Hello All + Question

Hi eveyone,

I recently drove a 2004 MCS (in the snow no less) and had a total blast. I want one! I'm currently planning to save up some cash and buy a used 04 -06 MCS with Prem., Sport and cold weather pkgs.

Questions:
1. Did the 02-06 MCS with sport package come get the sport suspension as a part of the package?

2. Does anyone know what the list price for the 2002 - 2006 MCS was?

Thanks to everyone who makes this site so chock full of knowedge and enthusiasm! I had tons of questions 2 weeks ago. I've found answers almost every question by poking around in the archives.

-Estabahn

P.S. My current fun car is a 1957 MGA roadster... but it's waaay too cold in Colorado to get it out of the garage.

The 2002-2006 MCS came standard with what was called the "Sport Plus Suspension". This was the uprated "sportier" suspension that was an option on the MC. There was no "more sporty" suspension option for the MCS from MINI in 2002-2006 unless you went to the JCW suspension.

The "sport package" for the '02-'06 MCS was: DSC, 17" S-lites, and Xenons and front Fogs
The "premium package" for the '02-'06 MCS was: Sunroof, Auto A/C, and MFSW (multi function steering wheel)

It varied wildly based on options, but the base price was around $20k. With options it could be over $30k. Your best bet is to use something like KBB.com and plug in the specific options the car you're looking at has to get a ballpark for what the value is.

dave, thanks very much. I see on miniusa.com that on a 2007 "sport suspension" is a $500 option even if you order the sport package (which seems kinda odd).

Glad to hear that on a 02 - 06 the MCS gets the stiffer "sportier" suspension regardless of whether the car has the sport package option or not.

Thanks mucho!

- Now just gotta save up my $$$ so I can shop for a MCS!

The best place to get info on used cars, not just minis, is edmunds.com

There is a wealth of information, reviews, true ownerships costs, etc.

It helped me determine which year/make of the MINI I got.

I don't mean to upset anyone here, but I'd advise you to avoid the 02 model year if possible... there were lots of issues, though presumably they were all accounted for, but the 03s were much improved from the get go.

The 05s came out very early (deliveries in June/July of 04!) and had a minor facelift with refreshed head/taillights and updated front/rear bumper designs. If I remember right, the 06s were a bit late, making for a very long 2005 model year run.

My current plan is to go for a 05 - 06 -- hopefully with LSD. RE: MGA thanks! I love it. But not so fun to drive on cold days!

Very nice MGA. I see you've been taken over by small furry alien creatures also.
