Does MINI stand for anything? M.I.N.I.

New here. 3rd post.
1st one was to get opinions on buying an 06 or ordering an 07, next was to announce my order of a mellow yellow 07 -- todaythis one is a little be more odd I suppose.

Does the original name (Mini) mean something other than being mini (small)? Is it an acronym for something?
"M.I.N.I" or Mi.Ni.
I'm sure the everyone can think of new ones but is there a "real' Acronym meaning?
Tks
Jim

MINI is not an acronym. The new MINI has been written in all capitol letters to distingush it from its classic Mini counterparts.

That's far too simple in a complicated world!
Or maybe it's me that's complicated.

From Wikipedia

The name Mini did not appear by itself immediately — the first models being marketed under two of BMC's brand names, Austin and Morris. The name Austin Seven (sometimes written as SE7EN in early publicity material) recalled the popular small Austin of the 1920s and 1930s. The other name used in the United Kingdom, Morris Mini-Minor, seems to have been a play on words. The Morris Minor was a well known and successful car, with the word minor being Latin for "smaller"; so an abbreviation of the Latin word for "smallest" — minimus — was used for the new even smaller car.
Until 1962 the cars appeared as the Austin 850 and Morris 850 in North America and France, and in Denmark as the Austin Partner (until 1964) and Morris Mascot (until 1981). The name Mini was first used to name the car in 1961,[8] somewhat to the surprise of the Sharps Commercials car company (later known as Bond Cars Ltd) who had been using the name Minicar for their three-wheeled vehicles since 1949. However, legal action was somehow averted,[9] and BMC used the name Mini for the remainder of the life of the car.[10]

A mini car deserves the MINI name!! I have a 02 Liquid Yellow/White MC. This color stands out, especially in snow storms!

The Morris Minor Company, in 1959, wanted to present a "people's car", and created the 1959 Morris Mini Minor. The word "Mini" came because the Minor was already very small in size [you'd know if you saw one], and the new car, the Mini, was even smaller, so it was their mini version of the Minor. THAT'S the whole truth and nothing but....

Thanks everyone.
I hope I don't drive myself crazy until I get my ordered car.
Thinking about what I ordered and what I should have etc. Seems to be a pretty common illness for waiting MINI people.
Maybe it's MINI-itous?, ObsesoMINI?,
I sure have spent a lot of time on this Forum since ordering.
