For the R56 its 1250 in the handbook at 4000rpm or below. Not sure for other models.

and after that break in, its good to start increasing the revs a bit. Keep load (throttle) light, but just give it some more revs before shifting, to work it in in the higher rev range as well. My wife's car has 9k miles on it and still feels like its getting stronger everyday. We dyno'd at 173ish right after breakin (literally hit 1250 on the ride to the dyno, and had the oil changed right before), but I more broken in JCW's tend to dyno in the 180 range. I'm interested to get her car back on the dyno out of curiousity. Next dyno day our car club has I'll do it.

Immediately after break-in

I noticed improved performance from my MINI after the break-in but also noted significantly increased fuel economy as well. First couple of tanks of gas my fuel economy was around 29.7. Now (after 6k miles) the avg fuel econ is around 31.7.
I'm happy with that! Good luck with your new MINI. You're going to love it more, the more you drive it.
