first gear, second gear....

I see this next to each members name
what does it mean?
I have been a member for several years and mine still says 1st gear
so I just dont get it

who knows the answer to this mystery?

when you hit a certain number of posts, the gears will shift. There is a thread somewhere that explains when the gears shifts.

The first page explains the post count thing. The next couple of hundred explain how so many of us made it to 6th gear.
