Sounds like a good weight loss program!

If any of those other drivers had visited Rachael's gallery, I guarantee all of the guys would be waving!

Yep - THE single digit - I spent ages slicing and dicing traffic to catch him, flashed my lights and waved, the driver raised a single digit and floored it.

I was not about to play licence lottery to catch him (again), so I left it at that.

I have a CR/W JCW....but I wouldn't flip the bird to anybody in a MINI. Was this on the 405 or 5 south of Lake Forest? Let me know what the license plate # is so I know not to chase them down.

Okay then, I hope it's not a JCW thing. I was going to add a few JCW items to my MCW, but if it's going to make me uppity and standdofish - then just forget it!

On the 5, north of the 133, I first spotted him around El Toro, took me 8 miles to catch him.....

He was running a paper plate - Not sure of the dealer.

Maybe it's an Orange County thing, Mini drivers so absorbed in thought that the rest of the world goes by unnoticed. I spent a week in Costa Mesa back in July. Was like visiting another planet compared to the rest of the USA. I don't think there was a single American made car registered in Orange County south of Anahiem.

If you really want to get noticed out there Rach, try driving a 1979 Ford Granda with rust around the wheel wells. In Orange County you couldn't be more unique than that. And the funny thing about it? The car will look real sophisticated and somehow retro-punk-cool since it is being driven by some young tantalizing babe. Not surprisingly, the exact opposite holds true for women who aren't as physically gifted. Get some overweight short-haired woman with short stuby fingers behind the wheel of a Corvette and it looks like the dorkiest car ever to see the light of day.

It is an Orange County thing.

When I pull up next to another MINI, I normally get nary an acknowledgement. Maybe 'cause they are usually stuck in *&%$#^!! traffic.

But kudos to the MCS Checkmate I saw last week. She rolled her window down and said something that I couldn't hear. We both laughed anyway. Renewed my faith in MINIdom.

Hey I got better than a wave this summer in Cali...Rented a cabrio to drive out to Carmel & take Hwy 1 south. A cockney Mini owner on a motorcycle followed me for two stoplights to talk MINI! What more could a tourist ask for?!? Keep tryin'! We're still out there!

Our understanding when we bought our Mini was that you did not wave. You flashed your headlights & Honked your Horn twice. Any one else heard this.

Erm Lex, did you flip the bird to a guy in an *almost black* BMW 325i the other day ?

I just realized I was driving my wifes car when I caught the Red/White JCW....

/me figures that he has caught Lex out as a BMW hating, street racing lunatic.....

I'm a newbie (only had Robin for under two months) but I always wave. I've gotten a pretty good percentage of returns waves here on the eastern seaboard when I'm driving up to Boston and down to DC. Have to admit, I look like a bit of a MINIac, waving madly at every MINI I pass, so it's quite possible that they're waving back just to shut me up.

The best "wave" I've received so far, though, wasn't even a wave. I was pulling up behind a pretty Liquid Yellow MINI, and sped up in order to catch him. But before I could even pass, I saw his window start to go down. As I pulled even with him, he thrust his arm out the window and gave us a huge thumbs up!

I may have to trade my maniacal waving for the cooler, smoother thumbs up.

Nah..it couldn't have been me... I never flip anyone off unless they flip me off first. Were the windows tinted? Nah...no way, I haven't used the middle finger in ages. I always have one hand on the steering wheel and the other on the shifter during rush time..no time to flip the bird when cutting through traffic.

whatever you need to do I guess to get their attention. The honking is new to me...then again I've only had my MINI for a month.
