update on my mini - unreal.

so I picked up my brand spanking new mini on Friday and its already in service. For some reason the supercharger is not working. (I really saw this when I drove the NON S loaner home and it seemed just as fast as my S) anyway the dealer told me that every time they took it out and pushed it a little the CEL light came on and the car just DIES......:impatient

I received a call from the tech today and he said it may be the valve on the supercharger but he is waiting on an email response from MINI USA.

what should I do? I just picked up the car on Friday this should NOT happen.... should I demand a new car? am I entitled to a new car?

blah this sucks...

I believe the SA will do everything they can first to try and fix your brand new car, before calling it a "lemon". Sorry to hear about all your troubles, a bump in the road for your MINI experience, but I would hang in there with your original MINI. I know I would hate to order a new '06 and wait another period of weeks to have it delivered.

Sorry to hear of your troubles - it's really disappointing when the dealer can't pinpoint what the trouble is. Sounds fishy that they are waiting on an email from MINI USA. Hope you get your car back soon and all is well with it.

Not necessarily fishy. If this is not a common problem the dealer probably just wants to make sure they fix it right. In fact, I'd prefer my dealership involve the factory in a problem like this.

I had an issue with my MINI (06, MCS) about 3 days after I picked it up. The Service Engine Soon light came on. I took it to the dealership and they investigated and were able to diagnose and fix the problem.

Since then it has been running like a champ.

I guess my advice is to wait and see what happens. I know it sucks not to have your MINI though.

Yes, it must suck not to have YOUR MCS to tool around in, especially considering the wait and that it's brand new. The good news is that you have a loaner MC to tool around in in the meantime.

Definetly the fetzer valve.

Seriously, one problem doesn't make a lemon, but keep all your paperwork in case you ever need to go the lemon law route.

Valve on the supercharger? They must be referring to the bypass valve. If its sticking then yah you will have zero boost.

Guess my suspicions in your prior thread that your car needed dealer attention was right. Since this problem happened straight off the bat it would seem that your dealer did not do a thorough job pre-delivery and it stinks that they left it up to you to discover an issue the car clearly had right off the boat. I'd try to leverage it and see if they would throw in a thing or two for your trouble - I don't know what options you have but consider what you'd like and ask if they can comp you an installed item (like the alarm or ipod adapter) or some other items considering.

The part about the dealer waiting for an email reply from MININA seems very odd, if they are really ignorant of how to deal with the issue they should be calling MINI and/or calling the Field rep for your area and working to get a quick response, not waiting for emails...

Your BPV is stuck open...

not a big deal, and I'm surprised that they needed to call Mini because you're not the first one this happened to.

But most states say the dealer has to fail to repair the same thing a couple of time (I think it's four here in CA) to qualify as a lemon, so save the paperwork. I agree with eVal, seems like they were busy that day and didn't prep or test you car well.

Despite the hassles, use the guilt lever at just those times when you need to push an argument over the top to your favor (Yes, but remember how nice I was when my brand new car did work. As a thank you for that I expect you to cave on this one....) Different words reccomended, but you get the idea...

That email to MINI might simply be a confirmation of what they already believe, and to create a "paper trail" with MINIUSA to cover their costs.

It sucks you can't drive your beastie right now, but it will get fixed and made all better. Then, after it is broken in, go ye forth and dust the abominal GTi!

they STILL don't know whats going on.
but they are installing an armrest for free right now...
we'll see what transpires.

Lets not be greedy, but an Ipod adpator is sounding really nice about now. I'd say for every two days another "gift", go small then work the larger items.

Hmmmm, sounds like you're getting a couple hundred bucks of credit per day. In a weird kind of way, I almost hope the same thing happens to me when mine is delivered. At a couple hundred bucks of credit p/ day, maybe they would throw in a JCW kit if it's not fixed within a month!
