Just purchased a 2002 MCS.

I just purchased a 2002 MCS. The car has 21,000 miles, is Grey with striped hood. The car is mint except for a ding on the front hood that they have agreed to fix.

I pick it up next week. I can't believe how much fun they are to drive and I have had Mustangs, BMW and even a Conquest TSI. The MCS is very impressive for feel and responsiveness.

Nice ride. As an '02, if it's still under warranty from MINI USA you may wish to have your local MINI dealer check it over for a couple of must do warranty items (coolant expansion bottle, hatch latch, radiator fan and power steering pump fan circuit split). Miles wise your still under warranty, but you'll have to check with MINI for the actual expirey date of your warranty.

Now what's to be your first mod?

Welcome to the madness.....Les

Thanks for the information. I am buying a 5 year 100,000 mile warranty since I plan on having the car for awhile and was able to get a good deal. (First time I was able set a price and dealer took it.)

I will make a appointment at a MINI dealer and have them check it out.

First mod might be a new cup holder Not sure yet but still reading and pricing things out.

Moreorless how does your Mini matchup with the newer models? Any major issues? How many miles on yours?

Good choice on a first mod. Newer models have all had improvements one to the next. I have not had one single issue with mine. I bought it in June of '05 with 9k miles. It is now September of '06 and I have 31k miles on it. A number of long road trips and lots and lots and lots of daily driving.

....Les
