The dealer told me yesterday that the sooner the better... They will stop taking orders around November from what I understand but I would not wait until then to order since they are already beginning to produce the 2007's allocations will probably be limited.

Another question, will 06 be still available in early next year at the dearlership?
We are planning on either end of this year or early next year due to financial reasons.

If financial reasons enter into it maybe you shouldn't be buying one at all. Now get back to work so you can pay off all those debts(!) Or, chuck the rest of it, get your priorities straight, and order a Mini today -the financial consequences be damned! (Now there's some advice for the true Mini fanatic!)

But seriously, I find it interesting that they claim 2007 model year cars won't be in show-rooms until February. Maybe they do things radically different over there in Britain, but seems to me any day now will be the last of the 2006s coming off the production line so that 2007 production can be ramped-up.

Anyone have any idea when the last 2005 rolled off the assembly line? I would think that bit of data would go a long way describing when to expect 2006 production to cease.

I am fairly certain that from the perspective of a chartered accountant, the sooner they begin 2007 production, the better. Otherwise they show little return on investment for all the retooling necessary to introduce the 2007 this year. Makes the financials of the company look bad, as if someone made a bunch of boneheaded decisions on capital outlays that have not returned a penny (or pence if you prefer) on the investment made.

I was just cutting up some back roads with my MA yesterday, and he told me that they just recieved the first 07 brochures. He said you really need to act now, because depending on the dealers allottment, in some places this may be the last month to order.

Hi sunnymini - As others have said... I wouldn't fool around if you think you want an 06. And consider that the 07 is first year production of a new engine, body style so there are bound to be problems. One of the MAs at my dealer said that after they stop taking orders, the factory will continue to produce 06's for dealers but they will be spec'd by the factory... meaning it will be a grab bag of colors and options. Ordering is best because you can get the exact options you want... you just have to play the waiting game.

My advice... go to your nearest dealer... ask them if they sell at MSRP. If they don't go to another one if there is one close by until you find one that does. If none do (as some in NorCal) then call a few suggested dealers from here (there are many recommendations) and find out if they still have cars on order (slots) that haven't been claimed. Then you can place an order.

One thing that helps... if your dealer can tell you the status number. 111 is on order, i think, 112 is on order but close to production. I ordered last thursday and the slot was in 112 status... by Monday the car was in production... so that helps with the waiting.

If you want a Mini, the 06 is the best produced Mini to date (so I've read), so order now!

Well Thanks for quick replies guys
I'll try to rush, but wife doesn't want to jump in until next year.
Maybe I'll go for used 05 or 06 next year, if I can't order one.

Hey Princeofwaldo, I'll keep your advice in mind. Real financial reason is bit complicated. Wife wants to save up enough money to pay cash for the car. I don't know why, since I have good enough credit, but I am not going to argue with her. It is going to be her car anyways.

Thanks again
