Greetings...Need some help

Hi everyone! New here...just ordered a mini last Saturday. I fell in love with minis since the first time I layed eyes on one a couple of years ago. I have been wanting one ever since but decided not to test drive one until I could actually get one. So...I finally test drove one a few weeks ago and fell completely in love. There was no way I was going to buy something else!

That being said, it seams like practically every time I bring up the fact that I am getting a mini, somebody always has to make some comment about how unsafe they are (being so small and all). Does anyone have a smart-aleck reply to respond back to them with?

BTW...I love this website. All of you have been so helpful!

Just tell them that if you had to out run someone would you rather do it in a big car that can be spotted easily or a MINI that can go basically anywhere. congrats on the order i ordered mine on 7/29.

Yup, that's what I figure....I can just get out of the way a little quicker. Plus, I'm sure it's at least as safe as my cavalier was...if not safer! (Am I really comparing a mini to a cavalier...eeks!)

Thanks for the link to the thread Gromit. I saw the article with the F150 and mini when I was doing some research earlier, but I really like the picture of how the mini held up next to the jeep!

And congrats on your new addition too Mexi!

How many cars do they know of with 6 airbags (7 if your wife is blonde)?

Welcome, Lil' Zip! Be sure to visit www.MINIUSA.com and read all about the safety engineered into our MINIs. They are strong little beasts.

This should be required reading. I was going to add a whole lot more commentary but I don't wish to start a flame war.

Lil'Zip: I work with a bunch of SUV owners so I have heard all of the uninformed cracks that you are getting. You'll love your MINI and will have much enjoyment driving it.

Withe the multi-airbag layout, the Mini is an amazingly safe car for its size. I drive defensively and enjoy the ride!

I was in a reck in 04 in my MINI. was hit from behind at 70 MPH and I was only moving about 5MPH making a left hand turn.

Results:

Through me in a spin toward oncoming traffic.
Broke my tail light and through off my suspention.

That's it!

The other car looked like it hit a tree or Superman head on at 70 mph

I was still able to start may car and get it out of the road.

Top that!!

Hey everyone,

It seems that these days most people have been brainwashed into thinking small cars aren't safe. I used to own a Fiero, which did great in safety ratings, but everyone thought I was driving a casket if I was ever in an accident. I personally love small cars, I'd take a small car any day. People think that the Mini is unsafe, and I guess that this thought about small cars will never go away.
