xenons?

Ok so my MINI's still in the body shop - I take it that it's too late to change options?

Anyway, that said, I did NOT order the xenons. Was this good/bad decision on my part? Just wondering if maybe I shoulda gotten 'em...

BAD.

One you go Xenon, you will never go back.

You should get them. MINI offers these at a bargain basement price for this kind of improved technology.

If I were to ever buy a used MINI, the lack of xenons would definitely send me looking for another MINI.

I bet you can call your MA and make the switch!

I just emailed my MA to ask if it was too late - ah! Oh well. No biggie, I suppose.

Crapola - I just called my dealership and they said the car had practically already been built - too late! I guess next time I won't deliberate; when in doubt, go big!

I guess i'm in the vast minority that think the regular headlights in the MINI are excellent and actually make the Xenons a waste of money.

I've driven in all weather, in all locations (city, suburb, rural) and the standard lights are excellent.

But like I said, I must be in the vast minority.

This is true. It'll be ok.

I just don't want the headlights to look dingy in a few years - some cars do that, it's like the headlights get dirty/murky looking from the inside. Or is that just me? Is there any way you can fix that?

Maybe I'm hallucinating.

Good note: the fact that it's too late, the car's been built, means I'm that much closer to having her, hooray!

Coming from always driving cars with 'regular' headlights for the full 11 years of my driving career, i think the lights on any new vehicle will be an improvement for me personally. Hence, I did not order the xenons on my MINI and don't think I'll miss them (what you don't know won't hurt ya). My current car is 9 years old and is only just now starting to show the murkiness you mentioned, which happens to be on the lens and has nothing to do with the type of light (I don't think). In any case, I have kept my car clean all these years and I think that is why they have lasted so long. Besides, I believe that it is possible to replace the lens should you need to for whatever reason, independent from what type of lights you have.

I'm sure the xenons are great, but if you've never had them before, I don't think you will even think about it once you get your MINI! Fret not!

I had non xenons on my 02 MC and xenons on my 03 MCS. Not too much difference to me other than the price of the replacement bulb increasing X 10. You'll be fine and have more in your wallet without them.
