New here, will be buying a mini and looking for advice.

Hello all. My wife and I are going to be buying a MC soon and I was hoping for some advice. Right now we are looking at getting a used MC. My wife is a bit particular in her tastes so I have been searching for a Pepper White automatic MC.

I was able to locate a 2003 which meets her specs and it also has a sunroof and leather seats (beige). It's actually at a Chevy dealership and the guy didn't know to much about it. A gentleman traded it in because his wife wanted a larger car and the person I spoke to on the phone said the guy was near tears when he had to part with it. They sent it to the local Mini dealership to have them give it a clean up before putting it on their lot. It's got just under 39k miles on it and they have a price of 17,990. That seems fairly reasonable to me?

As I researched MC even more I built one on the Mini USA website and it was only around $21k for a brand new one. This got me to thinking about buying a new one since the difference is only around $3k or so. But $3k is $3k and that's nothing to sneeze at so I'm not sure what makes more sense. Not considering the monetary part what other things would make the 2006 a better buy than a used one? We are really struggling with this so any advice would be appreciated.

And I must add how impressed I am with the NAM community on here. The passion and enthusiasm everyone has for the MC is just awesome and it makes people want to get one even more!

Sounds like you're doing everything correct. if you can swing the $3k, I'd go with new. if you get a used one, I'd go with a used one from a Mini dealer, since they have the best chance of putting it right.

As to the guy who had to part with his Mini, the lesson I learned was trade in the wife and keep the car. I'd still have a pair of MGC's instead of the ex out there.
