Ordered Mini 1 Week After 1st Drive

Greetings all, I just returned home after ordering a new S model. BRG/BLK with premium package and LSD (can't resist that acronym). It was just one week ago that I first drove a mini and I was hooked. We are giving our economy car to our daughter for her use at college, so we were shopping to replace it.

My normal summer car is a 91 Corvette ZR-1, which I also use for autoX and track days. I am the NCCC Governor for our vette club and the NYS Director of the ZR-1 Net Registry. So you could say I am in to Vettes (plus dirtbikes and snowmobiles). But I am amazed at the handling of this little car and excited for it to arrive in 6 weeks. I'm worried the old Z may become jealous.

Best regards, Glenn

Well, I couldnt order at the shop at which I drove the first car, as it was a used car dealer. It took me a little while to realize there is no benefit to buying used, since the resale values are so close to the new price.

That's for sure! I've been seeing an '03 MCS in the paper with an asking price of 22K. I look forward to the resale value beig strong over the years to come.

Congratulations, you won't regret it. I ordered mine as soon I pulled in from the test drive. Now after 11 months and 18,000 miles I have to say it was one of my best decisions.

Congrats.... I had an 04 Z06 which I recently sold... Now I just have the mini for my fun car. I did a few minor mods and now the car is really fun. I do miss the Z... but not much anymore.... The mini is way more practical for everyday use... It's more fun to drive a slow car fast... than a fast car slow..Enjoy..

We "bought" in our heads last Sun when we looked at them on the lot and surfed the web for info, this site included, and became convinced it was the right decision...test drove Mon afternoon, bought it and drove it home in less than 3 hrs!

Congrats to all on your intelligent purchase!

Welcome! So will you track the MINI do you think?
I'd never even been to a track before I got El Kabong, but now I'm hooked.
So where are you from?

Thanks for the warm welcome, all

BoCRon, I am from the Albany, NY area. I do intend to do autocrosses with it. I believe I will stick to the Vette for track days for the high speed factor. As fun as the mini is, on a long track like the Glen the extra horsepower is definitely a big plus.

Can I assume that the 6 weeks for delivery my dealer quoted me will be somewhat accurate, or are delays common?

Well I was in the same boat. I test drove and pondered and ran back the next week to place my order. So I guess there are 2 of us!

Welcome to NAM, MIZR1! My hubby has a '91 Corvette, and he loves my MINI!

The 6 week estimate is a very accurate time frame. Hang out here and glean all the info available, as well as make new friends!

20 minutes.

After two months of research and NAM-lurking, and two hours at the dealership hemming and hawing over colors and features, I went for a twenty-minute test drive. Twenty minutes after returning, I was at the MA's desk saying let's make it happen.

Now if they could just tell me what boat it's on so I could track it and obsess about when it will hit California, get shipped, get striped, etc. --doug
