I ordered A MCS (Astro Black, cloth seats, LSD, cruise control) on 6-5-06. I traded in a Mustang Cobra Conv. so I have some concern about liking the Mini as much. The MCS will see considerable autocrossing as I have been in the sport for over 25yr. Here is a philosophical question. If it doesn't cost any extra for a black roof, then why is it extra for a black car?

Astro black is metalic paint. BMW/MINI charges extra for metalic paint. BTW do a search for the Astro Black Registery and Astro black Frapper map.

Welcome to NAM mudshrk00!

It wouldn't be so bad to be charged a premium for a metallic color if there was more of a choice of non-metallic paints. Only three no-metallic choices forces many into the up-charge.

Lots of extra money made by BMW/MINI. Could that be the reason? And what's up with $200 for a black headliner??? I better stop now.

Congrats... I went from a Z06 to a MCS. I ordered mine similar to yours... kept it light and simple. I was dissappointed in the performance... It just didn't have enough torque and there was too much off-idle lag..
The handling was there and its very nimble... About 6K miles later I made a few changes... Its a whole new car and it satisfies in almost every way... While its still not a torque monster and its FWD... it sure feels like the whole package now...
These mods are almost mandatory for any enthusiast!

That $200 anthracite headliner makes up for the free upgrade to anthracite dash!
