Not sure how long you have been lurking here but welcome!

Unfotunately it is the nature of things. It happens. People want to question motives but in most cases I am sure it is inocent. They are just hoping to inform you of the consequences before you make the leap in case you may not have realized the outcome.

Most everyone here is a pretty freindly group and from time to time you are going to get these types of posts and even less frequently they can be much worse.

Don't take offense to quickly since this medium can misconstrue sentiment so easily.

Enjoy and hopefully your question will be answered, it just takes time.

I too would be interested in knowing about the ballasts.... sorry I don't have the answer.

Not all, but plenty. There are tons of highly opinionated and know-it-all types here that will let you know what they think, which is often rude and/or against what you think. You just have ignore it and realize that NAM is an excellent knowledge resource, but it does come with a few negatives like this that you have to put up with if you want the knowledge. There is currently almost a 1000 active users, and when you have a group of 1000 of anyone, some of them may be jerks no matter what they drive. Try not to take things personally.

My only suggestion is that you wait a few days for the old timers with a little more knowledge to chime in. I am sure someone can help, just give it a little time...and no, most posts do not go like this; I have found that you get much more helpful comments than other forums I've been a part of.

Hmmm, actually a good question. My initial thought was NO, you wouldn't need a stronger ballast. Because it's the bulb and what's inside that gives off the temperature, is it not? The ballast would have nothing to do with the color temperature. So I would say no, the ballast wouldn't need to be more powerful.

BUT, I would say check out hidplanet.com and search through some of their topics. Those people know their stuff.

I been here awhile, but under another SN. I figure as long as the Bulb remains the same wattage, then I should have no problem I don't think. I know a few people here have the 8000K bulbs, so I should check with them to see if they've had any issues to date.

As for the Auto-Level, does anyone know what "situations" it will work and which it won't? I think the car has to be off, cause every time I turn headlights on after I start the car, they don't level. But there may be something else I don't notice? Opinions?

In general, the community is very helpful, helped me many times. You've asked a fairly obscure question so lack of responses is probably more indicative of a lack of an answer since over 100 people have looked at the thread.

The two "negative" responses weren't really negative but more of a helpful nature just in case you didn't understand the ramifications of your actions (i.e., less light, possibly illegal). There is nothing wrong with that.

One persons tone and "silly" comment was their opinion. Everyone has an opinion on most everything. Not much you can do about that.

I am sure if some really has done that or knows the answers, they will jump in

That wasn't really bad at all - I was expecting alot worse - and yes it can get much worse.

Not so bad really...shrug?

Yeah, it is hard to tell sometimes on email what someone's "tone" of "voice" is, you know? Once I asked a question about the MINI's tire sensor and got someone telling me a bunch of really basic stuff about tires, and tire pressure instead of a reply to my question... Then I figured out (made an assumption) that he had seen my name and maybe thought that because I am a woman I didn't know anything about tires/cars, etc.? Of course, that just made me more teed off so I just let it drop. Cuz, I mean, maybe he was just a know it all and none of it was what I thought anyway.

In general, this site is really helpful and an interesting read. And the best info/help I've received has been from members of my local MINI club, most of whom are on NAM as well.

Hope you get your answer!
