OK, I’ve got nine days (I think) left until delivery, so this point is probably moot, but I’m really peeved about some aspects of my dealer experience so far.

I am getting my MINI through D&R in Indianapolis. The price, ordering, etc. have all went very smoothly, but they claim since they ordered the car to spec before I signed all of the paperwork, I cannot get a production or VIN number. My delivery date is allegedly May 3rd, but I have no idea what boat I’m on, what port my car will be delivered to, or anything.

This is really frustrating and souring my experience. I know most car companies don’t even do this sort of thing, and now I wish MINI didn’t either so I could calm down.

Just needed to rant. If anyone has an idea of where The Gray Ghost could be, I would appreciate it.

Thanks for reading.

Things like this will bother the crap out of you

until you have the car. Then they'll be forgotten! And maybe, this will get you your car a little earlier.

what?? They did not even give you a production number???

Call back and say you need the VIN for insurance or for locking in a loan rate or something. Or say you want to register for Mini online to join the forums

Call ASK MINI and see if they can look up your information by your name or something.

Then again, after it was all done I nearly went crazy trying to track the boats and trucks and VDC and using webcams and google earth and NASA satellite pics and ocean weather tracking and Coastguard tracking and port radars and emailing shipping companies.... Probably would have been healthier if I had not spent all that time...
