Howdy - I've GOt a new JCW!
I just joined NAM and want to say hi!
I have acquired my second MINI, a 06 JCW+ in BRG/W with the 17" S-lites. (My first was a 02 W/B Cooper my son in college stole when I moved to the west coast in 03!) We now live in SoCal between Camp Pendleton and Mt. Palomar.
I bought the Mini as a toy to use in the hills around here (where the extra HP is nice to have) and for track days. It shares parking spaces with a Maxima for trips and a F150 for hauling.
I've owned many other cars in my 44 (legal) years of driving, including a 04 M3 SMG, two Miatas, a Corvette and several dozen Alfas - many of them racecars.
I have been involved in racing off and on for 40 years, retired from active SCCA and vintage racing in 02, and I do some instructing (usually when the memory of the last student who tried to kill me fades....<g>)
Greeting to you all and I hope to learn more about how we can tinker with the Mini from you all.

Lowlights.. Buying parts!
And I don't even know the man!
Anyway, welcome to the Mini world. There's lots of information to be found here (But keep the skeptical filter turned to high!)
Matt
Big NAM welcome to you, Jim! There are lots of great MINI enthusiasts near you and a fun group, West Coast MINIs: http://www.westcoastminiclub.org/
Happy motoring!
Happy motoring!
Welcome welcome!
Since you're not new to MINIs you know how much fun it is already, but I'm sure with the JCW you're having a higher dose now
Hubby used to have an Alfa too. As soon as he drove our 1st MINI he said it reminded him of the Alfa. Of course the MINI bug bit all of us pretty hard, so it's no real comparison to the Alfa.

Lessee:
'57 Giulietta Spyder #2304 with Pinin Farina hardtop vintage racer
'59 " vintage racer
'59 Giulietta Sprint ex-Cal Club vintage racer (+ 2 more at various times)
'62 Giulietta Spider - the car my brother and I started racing with in 1965, I recovered it, restored it and raced it for another decade - the 90s
'63 Guilia Spider
'67 Giulia TI (fast little 4 DR)
two '67 Duettos
'67, '69 and '74 Sprint GTs
Lots more, but nothing built after 1974.
I used to have the MA vanity plate "Y ALFA" which is what everyone asked me. The answer: I had a ton of parts and knew how to fix them!
And the '62 Spider (pictured) was the favorite. It was fast enough to win a few main events, beating Jags, Maseratis, Porsches, etc.

Welcome to Team Craptastic!
Nice car - but then again I'm biased
As for the wheels if you really want to motor get off those s-heavies and runflats and consider some 16" Kosei K1s
with Azenis
Enjoy!!!!!!
