Black Dust or Oil coming from '06 MCS Gas Pedal!?

I drove my mini for the first time with a skirt on and after noticed a bunch of black stuff on my right leg and right foot. (No smart remarks, I had just gotten out of the shower.)

Anyway, went into a store, got a napkin to wipe off my ankle and it was black/brown and didn't want to rub off. Is it possible a vent is leaking something into the car?

I am just learning about cars so please be gentle with me if this is something I should already know.

Nothing should be coming out of the gas pedal, or around it. The only vent down low would be the heat vent, but what you described is strange. Maybe the area around the pedal was dirty (from whatever) and you just inadvertently rubbed some off.

I think we need to see pics ! Seriously though, as everyone else has said, there shouldn't be anything in that area to cause this. Sounds like there might be something on one of the surfaces around the foot well - may just need cleaning.

To the right of the gas pedal on the tunnel is a black plastic piece--if you rub against it the black will come off. On my 2005 Cooper it rubbed right through until it showed white.

Newly Washed

I had just washed, clayed and waxed it for the first time and had only had it about a week or so, so I am not sure what it could have been? I guess it could have been something else, but I will keep an eye on it and report if it happens again. Maybe do a little CSI action and see what happens
Thanks for the info and tips, It sounded strange to me too, but that brake dust issues is pretty awful, figured maybe I stirred up some when I washed or who knows.
Thanks!

It's probably something coming out of the heater vent which is in the
bottom of the center console and points right at the accelerator pedal.
