I think part of the problem, for me anyway, is perceived closeness of the vehicle behind me.
I don't drive my Mini everday, but when I do it seems like everyone is ridding my rear bumper & when stoped at a red light they stop so close I feel my space being invaded {I'm shy}.
But I soon realized that not everyone could be getting closer than normal to me.
Is there something about the view from the mirriors of the Mini that make people look closer than they are?

All the time...
for example... while driving home today... this lady in a Dodge something-or-another was constantly changing lanes for a couple of miles and settled in behind me. As we approached the local traffic circle (strangle point) she found the need to disappear from my rearview mirror by getting so close, I couldn't see her hood anymore
. After a couple of uphill roll-backs, she finally backed off.
The only thing you can do is keep a safe distance behind the car in front of you and brake sooner so the tailgaiter behind you doesn't have an excuse to brake suddenly or not stop in time. After being rear-ended a few times (none were my fault, other driver following too close or not paying attention) I've become a little paranoid, especially in the MINI. But not enough to NOT enjoy the ride

Lets see, WD40 absorbs water ... what will that do? Clean their windshield

Try some "Back to Black" ... that will do it!
You guys crack me up....I"ll try the washer idea..ha ha.
On the way home from school--it was a lincoln navigator--got a good look at her as she was up my b....I:impatient made a comment out loud about her being "on my tail"..well of course my son turns around in the back seat and stares at her....she backed off a little--I guess the little head staring at her at such a close distance got the point across....

At the onset of beeping (about 4 feet), the view out the rear window looks like I've already backed over what's behind me. It's an optical illusion. Objects in mirror are further away than they appear.

) the only thing I see is the other car's windshield. They're so close I don't even see their headlights or hood anymore. Larger vehicles pull up close all the time b/c they're front is short and they can see over us. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, but it still unnerves me.Way back in HS, we were taught to stop when you were able to see the ground behind the rear wheels of the car in front of you. The way people stop now, they could read my mileage... with my top up
