Meet Bob

Hey All,
owned a Jeep Wrangler Sport for the last 6 1/2 years and happily so. But, like in life, a change was needed so I popped down to the local Ford dealer to check out the new Mustangs. I eventually ordered a covertible GT with all the options and put down a $500 deposit: that was back in August of 05. Around Nov. 05 the car had not yet shown up and I was tired of getting the brush-off from the sales guy. Later that month I was board one weekend and dropped by a Mini dealer in Mnt. View, CA. Talked to this sales guy, "Elvis" (great guy btw), and took a test drive in Cooper S.

Later that day I called the Ford dealer and told them where they could put the order for the 'stang and put down a deposit on a Mini: later to be known as Bob.

Bob was ordered at the end of Nov. 05 and I finally took delivery on Jan. 31st, 2006. I don't know about y'all, but waiting for the car was like torture. The order tracking area of the owners lounge is evil, evil! But I managed, somehow, to get through the ordeal. And now I have my Mini.

So, Bob, is an 06 MCS BRG/W #2 LSD SS+ Other options are as follows: W/bonnet stripes
Convenience package
17" Web Spoke w/high perf run-flats
Beige leth. int
Chromeline int
Auto AC
Cockpit Crono
On-board comp
Multi-func wheel
HK/iPod adapt
Bumper protection
Checked mirror caps
Beige leth. shift & brake boots
Beige mats(cloth) & boot mat(rubber)
LoJack
Checked valve-stem covers
Checked Lic. frames
and wheel locks

But... the really big news, for me anyway, is Bob gets JCW installed on the 28th of this month!!! also the JCW brake upgrade >

Happy motoring! Glad to be a Mini owner! I've never, NEVER, had this much fun driving anything in my life... the Jeep was close (for other reasons), but not like this! And chicks dig the Mini (boy that dates me doesn't it)

Cheers

Jonathan

Welcome to NAM! I went from a Jeep Cherokee (which I loved) to a MINI. Lots of good times on and off-road with the Jeep, but nothing compares to the fun of a MINI!!

Waiting for a MINI is indeed character building. Glad you and Bob are getting along so well. We'll see if he's so well-behaved after that JCW.

Interesting. My decision was also between a Mustang and a Mini. Ran away from the mustang...

chuckyTLC,
ya I was interested in the 'stang as I've always had a soft-spot in heart for the American Muscle Car: Camero, Charger, GTO, Firebird, 'Cuda, etc. But even with multiple test-drives of the 06 Mustang, it just felt like a boat anchor: I could picture gettin' on the gas in a turn and watching the ***-end of the car come around looking for work. In retrospect, if I had test drove the Mini first I probably would have never stepped foot in the Ford dealership. The Mini is the only car I've owned, that upon returning from a drive, I've sat in and thought about getting back out on the road for a few more miles. As it is, when I go out in downtown San Jose (a mile from apt.) I typicaly drive home via Palo Alto (about 20 mile up the peninsula from where I live). Anyway, I'm SO GLAD, I didn't buy the Mustang!
Cheers
