Just Bought a '05 MCS - Questions on activating some options??

Hey guys, I just bought a used 2005 Mini Cooper S. It’s the dark grey colour with a black roof. It’s fully loaded with 2800 miles, NAV, premium package, sports package, cold weather package, leatherette, harmon/kardon stereo, etc …..

Anyway, I’m importing this car from NY State into Canada. One of the prereqs. that I need to perform to this car is activate it’s daytime running lights (DRL) feature. There is a law in Ontario that all new cars must having DRLs inorder to be plated. I was wondering if only the dealer can program / activate this option or can it be down by myself? I also read that there’s a lot of other options that can be activated. Is this only a dealer thing?

Also, is it possible to change any of the digital readout features. What I mean is, this car is equipped with the electronic climate controls. They display in Fahrenheit. In Canada we use Celsius. Can this be set either way by me or is this another dealer thing? Same goes with the digital read out of miles vs. kilometers.

Thanks for your time guys
If history repeats itself (I also own a heavily modified 1997 Mitsu Eclipse Spyder GST) I’m sure I’ll be posting a lot of things here as I’ve done with my Spyder on other fourms

That stuff must be done at the dealer. Not 100%, but I think the display does too.

You can switch the Auto AC yourself. This instruction is from the '05 Owners Manual: "You can switch the unit from F to C by pressing the buttons for air conditioning and air distribution toward the footwell at the same time."

The display of kmh and Celsius on the instruments must be programmed by a dealer...so does the daytime running light feature.

Hope this helps...
