Yayyy! It's ordered!

I've ordered my '06 AB MCS. Woo! According to the dealership, mine was the last possible order for February. The salesman claimed it should arrive mid-March. I have two questions:

1. What "production week" am I in?
2. Is mid-March a good estimate, or will it be much longer?

Congratulations and welcome to the community !

There is no feeling in the world like just ordering a MINI so enjoy it .

The estimated delivery seems short to me. Based on my recent experience, I am positioned for one of the shortest deliveries to my dealership (I believe) - once ship is unloaded in New York it is only 50 miles or less to the Princeton, NJ dealership. Here is my experience -

Ordered November 19, 2005
Production number received on December 2 or 3
Was told that MINI "went into production" on December 16
Probably because of plant construction my assembly was completed January 15
Rolled onto ship on January 19
Rolled off of ship in New York harbor January 29
Arrived in Princeton NJ dealer's warehouse February 3
Still there today getting dealer options installed !!!
Picking it up on Saturday, it will have been 13 weeks for me

Now, I may have lost almost a month because of he plant slowdown (car read to be in "paint shop" all that time - man I am expecting an inch think coat...) but even with that I have to believe that it is hard to get the whole cycle much below 8 or 9 weeks for an East Coast delivery. If you live further inland add trucking time. California has a couple ports - but double the shipping time to reach them.

Mini has a great tracking system to monitor the progress of your vehicle, and some folks here have found amazing ways to track your ship as it passes through each harbor and across the Atlantic. All that helps with the wait - but when you get to where I am now - DAYS away from taking charge of your MINI - you are ready to jump out of your skin. My nerves are ragged and I just can't wait to see it....

Hope this helps -

Bill

They open at 9:00 - I will be there at 9:00:01...!!!!

My MA is Jeremy and he said that the ususal hour-long run through may go well over an hour and a half with all the stuff I crammed into the car.... I expect to be there through perhaps 11:00, but not too long because - after all - I do want to get my new baby out on the road....!!

Would be great to show off the car and the huge grin I expect to have!!

Oh it'll be fun BELIEVE ME! The best part for me was peeling out when exiting the parking lot. That I will always remember. "Looks like a oooooo... another VERY satisfied customer." ENJOY it and soak it all in, IT'S AWESOME!

Does anyone find it kinda of odd that cmyk is listed as having no posts? I could swear I saw them start this thread.

I'm impressed that you're able to wait until after they open (albeit by one second). My MINI arrived at the dealer late on a Friday (February 7, 2003) and I was there an hour before they opened the next morning to check it out behind the fence. Waited around while it was prepped. Seems like yesterday. She came off the assembly line on January 8, 2003 so it took a month to take delivery in North Carolina which seemed pretty fast at the time. Your mid-March date sounds a bit optimistic - but it's worth the wait.

Congrats and welcome to NAM!

Welcome. I ordered my MCS on Dec. 30 and according to the website, the expected delivery date at the dealer is 2/15. Guess that puts it around 6-7 weeks - seems a lot longer than that when you are impatiently waiting.

I ordered mine on December 30 and it should be in South Carolina Feb 18 and then to the dealer for another week or so..... I hope it isn't as long as JerseyBills. I am getting almost all the mods he is.... that extra week after i know it is with the dealer will torture me. I should get Betty the last week of Feb or first week of March.

Well, the whole family is coming and my girls are hard to get out of bed - but I will start early !!! Too bad the weather turned cold again - I really wanted to peel out with the top down and the ipod blaring some appropriate song....

What really bums me is that my dealer is big enough so that it had a separate "warehouse" location where all the cars are prepped. I had hoped to stop this week just to SEE the car, even through a fence but its not yet at the dealer. I imagine they will bring it over Friday night so I MAY be there early checking it out through the fence.

I am sure that my production cycle was impacted by whatever they did at the plant to expand it in January - and also the fact that they have a holiday shut down of the plant (which may have extended into the construction period). I would think that a normal wait is perhaps 8 weeks for my part of the country, which really isn't bad for getting a car from thousands of miles away....

Four more days.....

Bill

Mine was ordered Jan 6...and is on the Integrity at N 43°12', W 023°42' as I type. Should be in Charleston SC on the 18th and my MA at Century MINI in Greenville SC can't say exactly when I can come pick her up.
Anyway...enjoy the wait. These folks on NAM are the greatest!

Strange... I double posted in this forum accidentally because I didn't notice my post appear in the listing. I thought maybe each post was reviewed before it's actually displayed (which would suck). And yeah, I keep getting the "We notice you haven't posted on our forums" message! Strange?

Aaanyway, the magic number I heard thrown around from my sales guy was '6 weeks', so hopefully it won't be much longer than that! You guys have no idea how hard this is. Okay, maybe you do. I'll be there an hour before they open to check my car out through the fence as well.

I tell ya, I thought Minis weren't that cool. I was planning to purchase an '06 GTI. I sat in one at the DC auto show and was thoroughly disappointed. Then I said, "eh, I'll sit in this Mini for the heck of it". I was in love. The smile factor was through the roof. I did a ton of research the next week and took a test drive on the following weekend. I placed the order the same day.

Sweet! Congrats on the ordering! I strongly advise that you fully wallow in the experience of waiting. I seriously think that this is part of the whole Mini gestalt! What is totally cool about this forum is that never does anyone chide you for being way too obsessive! In fact, the folks at my dealership here in Colorado are just about as nuts as I am and have made the wait even more fun and crazy! As your delivery date approaches (I ordered in early November and my Mini just arrived at the dealer here in Colorado today, February 7th) you will begin to feel (at least I did) like a kid on Christmas Eve! The really, really awesome thing is that unlike some items we acquire in life, the anticipation is quickly overshadowed by actual receipt!! Enjoy and welcome!

Bless you all and the patience you have. I could not wait but lucked out when the dealer had almost exactly what I wanted. Somebody ordered it and walked away from her while it was being shipped over. Can you imagine that......

Oh my god! I just found out the car is OUT OF PRODUCTION! I called the salesman to get the production number and he says, "I can give you something better. How about the VIN? The car's out of production!"

It should be arriving early-March now, rather than late-March. Wooo hooo!!

Oh... I just checked out the status in the owners lounge. It's still saying it's scheduled for production... is the salesman just ahead of the game and the site's taking a little while to update?

Mine was listed as being in production after it was loaded on the boat...so you can't go by that.

Awesome. I actually ordered Astro Black, thinking it was "the" black. Now it seems I have Astro Black with the JET Black roof. I think...

I was hoping it'd be all black. Would Astro Black w/ Black roof look ok? I'm just hoping the body doesn't look faded compared to the roof or something.

The roof will be Astro Black as well. You cannot get the Jet Black roof with an Astro Black body. I think it'll look great.
