My first Mini! Not new, but hardly used.
It's official, I've joined the Mini Cooper community, this is my first post. I have a lot to say since I've owned it for almost a month now, (been lurking here for a few weeks). It's an 03 Cooper with only 6k miles! British Racing Green/ White top/ Beige leather. I've already installed the Aux Input for my daughter's iPod, and bought a Hot Pocket to keep stuff from sliding onto the floor.
As well as putting a bumper protector on back for my dog when he jumps in and out. Also have ordered the window up circuitry, (why they left that out I'll never know). Anyway, I'm in love with this car! Now I see what the devotion/cult-like following is all about, can't wait to do some performance mods in near future. One funny thing to keep in mind for all... don't let your folks drive it, (or anyone else for that matter) without telling them how to open the doors from the inside!
My Mom & Dad were stuck in a parking lot, (they drove it to a hardware store), and couldn't get out! They figured they would lower the windows and open from the outside (which they eventually did), but it took a long time to find the window controllers.
Since there's too many things to love about this car, so I will rant about 2 things that bother me. 1) the horn! I wouldn't be able to find that sucker in an emergency for the life of me (and it just might be). No wonder they changed it to the center, where it should've been in the first place! Holding the wheel at 10 & 2 you'd have to have thumbs growing out of your wrists to reach it quickly. 2) What's with that double pull thing when opening the doors??? It's dumb and inconvenient, and can't be programmed differently (according to dealer). I'm also switching out my Dunlap 3000 195/55/16 Run Flats (yes with only 6k mi) to Avon Tech M500 205/50/16 for a more comfortable ride. My wife won't be a passenger in this car,(too bumpy) so we end up driving her Volvo.
I hope to install a 19MM sway bar in the near future, (after I recover from new tires). Any suggestions about getting a little more uumph out this baby? Oh yeal, anybody else feel cramped with left foot hitting the narrow wheel well (fuse box seems to jut out a bit). The passenger side feels a little roomier, but who the hell wants to ride in the passenger seat... I know my wife doesn't.
