Is there an easy way to pull codes??? I know on my vette i can pull the codes thru the driver info center.... i'm hoping to be headed down to boston tomorrow to look at a few different ones.... checking for codes before and after the test drive would be a big plus..

Number one post here...breaking the ice Unfortunately, with modern cars, you need an obd2 scanner to pull engine codes. Some auto parts stores (including AutoZone) will do a free scan. Try them. Also you can get generic code readers from auto parts stores.

keep in mind ...

that BMW has codes that can not be read with a standard OBD2 reader.

Ross-tech.com is coming out with somthing called bit-com - some day.... they have been working on it for a long time... but this would allow people to read out the bmw specific codes and date/time of their recording, long before obd2 codes register.... so I understand...

you can 'pull codes' jman1...

just they will be the SAE OBD2 codes as an international standard. My previous post was to offer the info that there are specific manufacturer codes that can not be read unless you have a special reader like the one Ross-tech is coming out with some day....
