Lol, can't speak for them but there are lots of reasons - between us we've had an E46 Dinan 3 (328Ci based) and E46 M3 and they went bye bye  Great cars in many ways but not infallible and the MCS has a lot of strong points as well. All fun to drive

carmax is okay

carmax is okay, ithey'll usually give you a better deal for your car than the dealer will. and it's so easy you don't have to deal with the hassle of going to the dmv or having the person who bought your car come back to you with issues.

I sold my car to them this past weekend, they gave me $8000 for it. an excellent condition 99 Honda CR-V ... kbb for private sale was $9500... of course thats if i can find someone to buy it for $9500. Dealer would only give me between $7000 and $7800 for it and you know how picky they can get. My dad and I thought it was a good enough deal to save time and hassle.

I sold my Jeep Liberty to Carmax in Tampa, gave me about $400 above KBB. They offered almost 2K more than the MINI dealer, but once you figure the tax difference, it was like $1100 better.
