Hello Everyone!

Just wanted to drop a note to say hello, I've just joined up here.

We ordered our Mini S about 2 weeks ago and the latest on the site says that she's already been built and is "Awaiting Transport". This is much faster than I thought it would take. Our dealer was saying probably toward the end of November for delivery. I'm not sure how much transport time takes, but I'm sure plenty of people here have a good idea. What can I expect?

Anyway, I can't wait to get her!

Take care everyone!

-Chris

Hi Chris...welcome!!! Go with what your dealer says...otherwise you'll go mad!!! I recommend you spend some time meeting other local owners, hanging out on NAM, starting a MINI collection of some sort, or procuring detailing supplies...something to keep your mind occupied. "MINI anticipation syndrome" has claimed the sanity of many here. Ya might work on your smiling muscles, too...they're gonna get a big workout soon.

Obtain your build number and enter the owners lounge, Join your local club, Prepare a list of Mods, Go to a local hobby shop Build a R/C MINI, and invest in a Scalextric slotcar set with MINIs, Start collecting decals, Make lodging arrangements for 2006 MINIs on the Dragon, Consider a MINI tatoo, Decide your MINI's name (if you haven't already done so), Figure out your MINI Code (yes I know it is out dated and not accurate) Move in at the local dealer, sit and wait 24/7 on NAM. Talk to your insurance man (I bet they ask, "Who makes a MINI?") Check on a vanity plate availability.

Eat, Sleep, Dream MINI! It makes the waiting a little more bearable!

Car Details

While I haven't figured out all the "shorthand" codes for my Mini options, I'll just spell it out as to what we've ordered:

2006 Mini Cooper S (MCS, right?)
Hyper Blue Metallic
White Bonnet Stripes
Premium Package (Web Spokes)
Sport Package
Convenience Package
Armrest
Nav System

[Dealer to Install]
Aux Audio Input
Full Roof (w/sunroof) Union Jack Flag

...And her name is "Her Majesty"

Sharing is Caring!

From one newbie to another, welcome to the group! Having got that out of the way, can some of us that are still waiting for our Minis stop over for some car time when yours arrives?

I'm amazed that it was built so fast too! But with my luck, she's all ready to go, but the transport across to here will take longer than usual! Then, of course, she'll be ready for delivery the first weekend in December, when I'm heading to Vegas for 5 days! I told my wife that that's what's going to happen and that she'll actually be tooling around town in it while I'm out west. We'll see if I'm right. Oh well. I'll keep checking every day.

And thanks to everyone for their warm welcomes!

Question:
I've read about people talking about the "Dealer Activated Options". What can I expect? Will the dealer call me when it gets close to delivery to ask how I'd like things set-up?

In reading many posts around here, I can see that I seem to be in a new league of customer service with my purchase. Sounds like it'll be nice!

Just got off the phone with ASK-MINI. "Her Majesty" is currently sitting at port, but she doesn't have a ship assigned yet. Bummer! But at least I know she's ready to go! I'll call back in a couple of days to check if she's caught a ship.

A shocking phone call...

So I'm at work on Tuesday and I get a call, it's Chuck from my Mini Dealer (Patrick-Schaumburg, IL), he says, "I'm expecting your Mini in today so I'd like to set up a time for you to come in & pick it up."

Good God was that fast! He originally told us 6-8 weeks, we ordered on Oct 1st, and now it's the 8th & she's here! Boy, I wasn't ready for that! So I'm actually going to have to schedule something for next week (14th or 15th) 'cause I still have to sell my current car! I'm extremely happy, but at the same time I've be caught with my pants down, and we're not ready to get her yet.

So next week I should have some pics up of her!

Thanks everyone!

-Chris

4 weeks from order?

It sounds like an in-stock Dealer spec MCS happened to match this part of your order:
Hyper Blue Metallic
White Bonnet Stripes
Premium Package

Sport Package
Convenience Package
Nav System

At the least, and then they could easily swap out web spokes and add an arm rest as well as the dealer options in short order. I can't think of any other way it would have gotten there so quick. Maybe they got it from another dealer, but the timing on this is crazy!

Where did you order that you got it that quickly? Do you know when it was built? Is it a dealer spec or did you somehow get ordered, built, and shipped (across th pond) in 4 weeks?

Anyhow, Good to hear you're getting your car so quickly. I think I'll be close to the 8-week mark when I pick mine up (expecting to in the first week/2nd weekend of December).

Tracked

Honestly, I tracked the whole build on-line in the owner's lounge! That's why I'm so blown away by the whole process. And on top of it all, I had called ASK-MINI and at one point, and she was sitting at port waiting for boat for almost a week. I MUST have hit something where an order was cancelled or something, the stars aligned, etc. and she got into the production line fast. That's why we're kind of scrambling to sell off my current car, we didn't expect this at all. But I am very happy!

I tip my hat to you. To be able to sit there and not say anything..... WOW

This build process has taken my nerves to the limit. I do not know how I will survive the boat ride!

Meeting should be good . . . can't stay for dinner , have a command performance at work function. We should make the parking lot social, though. P-B wants to show off the new plates.

See you there.
