We're getting off at Charelston

My car is on the AIDA. We're getting off at Charelston.

I'm guessing your car is heading to St. Louis. If so, you will probably be getting off at Charleston too.

Tropical Storm Harvey's path

I found this information about tropical storm Harvey at the National Hurricane Center.
http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/refresh/grap...59.shtml?chart

I wonder if the AIDA is going to take an alternate course.

It's blurry, but that's probably because the crew are running laps around the deck!

Haha. The picture reminds me of a WW2 convoy tracking map.

Thanks for the support

jds, thanks for the support! I'm sure you remember how tough the long wait can be.

When you were tracking your MINI, do you remember how many days it took to process your car once the ship docked? I believe the cars spend about one day at the processing facility before they are loaded on the truck.

creeker...my MINI was at the VDC only about a day or two, but that can vary a bit. Basically my car was build around January 15 and I was motoring by the 31st.

There was drama though...
First, the TRICOLOR had just recently sunk w/ a full load of cars (including a few MINIs)!! We were all saying, "what the heck...can that happen?!?!?!" A few frayed nerves there for sure during the AIDA's crossing.

Second, my MINI was trucked from SC to Dallas in the middle of a nasty winter storm. Ice..snow...and yup, more frayed nerves!!

All went well though.....my baby arrived safe and sound....and I absolutely (still) love this car!!!

My Cleveland bound MCS is also on the Aida. When do you figure it will arrive at Classic?

My red mcsc headed for Buffalo NY is also on the Aida. I believe my car gets off first at New York. My dealer says it will be two weeks from now before I get my car. He's estimating about 10 days after the ship's scheduled to get in for the car to be ready in Buffalo. If it's only two days at the distribution center, then it seems to me that the car should be ready sooner.

I estimate one day at the VPC, a couple of days to be transported to Cleveland, and a couple of days at the dealer for final prep.

10 days seems like a long time to get the car from the NY docks to the showroom floor. I expect you will get a call from your MA before the 10 days are up. You're getting close!!

I'm trying to be optimistic but Irine looks like she may be trying to mess up my plans to pick up my car on August 19th. I guess we will have to wait and see what happens over the next two days....

mdruben, as you know, the SF Bay Area is an expensive place to live. In fact, Santa Cruz county has the honor of being ranked as the 3rd most expensive place to live in the country.
Anyway, there are four MINI dealers in our area and 3 of them charge $3500 markup over MSRP for an MCS and the other one has a waiting list 6+ months long. I did a lot of research and called a bunch of dealers and one day on NAM I saw the add for Classic MINI on Cleveland. I called them and they could get me the perfect car in 4 weeks at MSRP .
At this point, I turned my MINI car buying trip into a road trip with my 11yo son. We are going to see his grandpartents on the east coast and then go camping all the way to Santa Cruz on a 9 day adventure.

What a great way to save $3500!!

Has the AIDA docked in NY yet?

Has the AIDA docked in NY yet? The AIDA tracking site does not seem to have been updated in the past day or so.

Does anyone have any idea where the ADIA is?

Awesome idea! Perhaps I'll see you at Classic when our cars come in. Let me know if you need any help around the Cleveland area.

On the other hand, who knows when that will be? The AIDA seems to be in no hurry to move into port, and Irene isn't going to help things much.

AIDA Found

A litttle detective work has found our missing ship (I think).

AISLive shows the AIDA in NY harbor:

http://aisfree.aislive.com/Influx.as...0York%20Harbor
(You may have to register for a free account).

This corresponds to the WALLENIUS WILHELMSEN schedule. It was supposed to be in NY today.
