Future New MINI Owner

I am placing an order for a Cooper S tomorrow. I am ordering it from Classic even though I live in California. I already had a trip planned to Chicago in September so I just have to modify my plans to go pick up my MINI and drive back to Cali. Should be a great road trip. Any suggestions on what car items to bring with me? I plan on order the Zaino starter kit and giving the MINI (haven't picked out a name yet) a good wax at my friends house in Chicago.

Another issue I am concerned with is the rear fog lights. I have heard/read that rear fogs are illegal in California. Is that true? I am planning on ordering the rear fogs but might pass on them if there is an issue getting the MINI registered in California. Hopefully some California owners will chime in.

I can't wait until I get the car! It is going to be a long wait until September.

Eric

Hiya and congrats on your new order. No - the rear fog light is not illegal in CA. We ordered our 05' MCS with it... It wasn't available when we ordered our 05' MCSC or Ariel would have it also....

As far as needs for the road trip, not much. A few snacks and some muscle relaxers for the smile you will have all the way home....

Donna
02' CR/W MCS (gone to MINI heaven - burned up)
05' Cool Blue MCSC "Ariel"
05' HB/W MCS "Gizmo"

Thanks for the info on the rear fog Donna. I am planning on ordering the aux input and installing it in Chicago. Then I will have my ipod for the rest of the trip. Anyway I just hope that the car is delivered to Classic during the week I am in Chicago (Sept. 3-10). I will be placing the order tomorrow so that is about 7-8 weeks.

Eric,
This is weird. I also live in California and ordered my MSC from Classic Mini but I ordered mine on July 14th (I think). I was very very lucky when I called on the 14th because Julie told me they had one MCS that was ordered but not sold (I think they were going to put it on the lot). It was exactly what I was looking for.

My 11 y.o. son and I are flying out from Santa Cruz on Augist 17th to pick up the car. We're driving to PA to see some family then to Atlantic City to see the Atlantic ocean then point the car west for the fun drive home. We are camping all the way across the US and will be stopping by Mt. Rushmore and spend a couple of nights in Yellowstone.

If you like, I can drop you a note when I return and tell you all about Classic and the road trip from OH to CA.

Take care,
Brian
