Lack of Service Records
Lack of Service Records
I purchased a used Cooper S from a BMW dealer (no local Mini dealers in area), and there were no service records. The dealer told me they could be acquired from any Mini dealer, which is consistent with what happened when I purchased a used BMW - got the records from the dealer.
I will be taking the Mini to Vegas later this week, and asked the Mini dealer there if I could get the service records. Was told they will only give them to the original owner.
The dealer will be programming a remote key I bought from them, and I will be charged for the programming - which is the reason the car is going on an almost 1,000 mile round trip (aside from the fun of the drive of course).
Does anyone know if not providing service records to the current owner is a dealer or a Mini policy so I will know who to talk to.
