WOOW! New MCS Owner - First Post

WooW! I've been cruisin the internet for years but never hit NAM before I purchased my 05 PS/B MCS (delivered June 6, 2005). I'm impressed!
In fact, I'm better than impressed. Reading the various forums, I realize the real worth of the internet and, of course, the wealth of knowledge and experience that this community is sharing. As I come up to speed (literally), I hope to be able to add to this great MINI knowledge machine.
I take my hat off to you guys/gals for your participation/feedback/etc.

Let me add my recent experience with my new MCS. With only 200 miles on it, a real ugly squealing noise started after engine warmed-up. Took it in to dealer service and they indicated that they hadn't had such a noise reported before. After leaving Mini in service for further investigation, here is what they found: "found that engine drive belt to be abnormaly small causing minimum clearance between supercharger pully and tensioner pully.. causing a pinched condition". Belt replacement corrected problem.
Just think, right from the factory with "abnormally short belt"!

Well, hope that's the worst service I even need. Me too can't wait to pass breakin milstone to open "FoxyMini" up!!
LET's MOTOR!!!
The SilverFox

Welcome to NAM Silverfox. I’m glad they were able to quickly resolve your problem. I was very conservative during the break-in, and I remember how the car seemed to promise a lot more performance when it hit about 4k rpm. Well that promise is more than met when you can let it wind on up. Happy motoring.

Welcome to NAM!

You're gonna love the car! I recommend the Euro parcel shelf as a first mod; it's an easy and quick install and you can find it fairly cheap if you look hard enough. Only thing easier is a new shift **** (which I haven't done, I really like the look of the factory version).

I have the same problem...

Mine had about 50miles on it when it started doing this.. but I haven't been able to get into the dealership to get it fixed, but they did tell me that they'd seen another brand new MINI with the same issue this week also. They replaced the alternator and the belt tensioner before discovering that all it needed was a replacement belt. Hopefully that's all mine needs too!

From what you indicate, it appears that MINI may have had a bad batch of belts during this last month of production.
Added another 100+ miles since belt replacement and all I hear now is a purrrrrr.
