Hi from Germany!

Hi! My name is Ralph, I'm from germany and I'm 40 years old. As long as I can think back I'm driving VW and Audi Turbo's. Now I wnt to change my 290hp, 320lb/ft TT Quattro into a Copper S and I need your honest opinions. Will I be happy with a tuned Cooper S powerwise? I know the MCS is much lighter than my TT. What do you think?
Please forgive me any language faults but I'm German. Thanks a lot!!

sold my bmw

Hi I sold my 530 BMW for a MC S and love it. I don't know what you want exactly, however I would take a test drive to see for sure. The power to weight and handling are lots of fun....maybe you should consider the John Cooper Works package too.

Good Luck

The Audi TT is does not weight that much more than an MCS. Only a few hundred pounds (or so). Although I love my Mini-S 210-JCW... I would bet your TT is faster.

The Mini is nice... but if I had the money, I would own a TT in addition to my Mini.

Welcome to NAM, Ralph! There have been many Audi TT owners who bought MINIs and love them! You can order the John Cooper Works package or go with aftermarket tuners' products. Either way, what a fun car the MINI is!

Being an owner of a TT and a Cooper, with a soon to arrive S for the wife....

Two totally different classe of cars, but here are my thoughts...

pros the TT
FAST... faster than the Mini
Well built. Metal is of good quality and resistant to dings
Good quality paint
comfortable with lots of leg room
Unique with very few around (at least in the U.S.)

Pros of the MINI
Better handling than the TT
Lots of room (in comparison to the TT)
Definite cool factor
Great price and value

Cons of the TT
expensive repairs
hard to get in and out of in comparison to the Mini

Cons of the Mini
Expensive to fix in comparison to the price point of the car (BMW Labor rates)
Dings and dents much easier than the TT
Paint is of lesser quality than the TT

Hope that helps to give some perspective from one who has both cars

Thank you very much for the detailed explanation.
I thought less weight of the MCS would be able to compensate less hp.What do you think. How much hp do I need in the MCS to accelerate as fast as the TT. The MCS should have about 300kg less than the TT.

A tuned TT cannot touch a tuned Mini on the track You'll be happy before and after any mods. It's a very fun car to drive all around, modded or not.

It is really difficult to say how many modifications it would take to get a 'stock' mini to stock TT. There are a wide variety of thoughts on this.

I would say that the TT is designed more for speed with some front end push in the handling end, while the Mini is designed more for the handling (look how many times the Mini is compared to a 'go-kart') with speed secondary.

IMHO, if you are looking for raw speed, the Mini can do it, but might cost you as much as the stock TT. It really boils down your preference (and available cash!).

Tough decision as both cars are a blast. Heck, just keep the TT and add a Mini to the garage!
