Hello from the UK

Hi guys'n'galls....just logging in for the first time to say hi.

I'm based in the UK and have been a part of the mini2.com family for sometime, but just wanted to see whats going on over the pond.

It seems you guys are as mad for the new mini as we are

Anyway, I own a Pepper White/Black Cooper S, chilli pack basically standard S stuff, oh and a very nice private plate. I'll try and post some pics at somepoint but all my mini pictures live on another computer.

I have been around minis' since I could drive, almost 23 years now, starting with an old 850 and working upto a beautiful 1071 S, which was also white/black. Thats the reason I went for the Pepper...it takes me back to my youth. We also try to go to as many mini shows as possible during the year to see and meet like minded people who love this car.

Hope to speak with you on here on a regular basis..thats it for now.

Hey, Crazy! Glad to have you aboard.

Questions: What is the Chili Pack, anyway, and how come we A-Mar-ah-kins ain't got one?

BTW, I like MINI2, too!

Johnny, thanks for the reply. The Chilli-Pack is a level of trim that is in the options pack here in the UK. It starts with the Salt, which is a base options pack, then the Pepper, which offers a bit more for the Mini One and Cooper, then the Cooper can have Pepper or Chilli. Basically its how much money you want to spend on kitting your mini out.

With the Chilli pack on my S I got uprated seating-half leather, lighting pack, heated mirrors and things like that, also for the Cooper you get uprated suspension but I think tha may be standard now anyhow. In money terms if I bought all the options separately it would cost 40% again almost just for the options.

Thanks for the clarification, Phil.

Here's another question: When people speak of the "S Works" on your side of the pond, is that the same as a the John Cooper Works (i.e., the 210 hp kit)? Or is it something else?

Thanks again, and welcome (again)!

Johnny, yes the S Works is the John Cooper Works kit. I think many people still associate the S Works naming with the Classic Mini, which during the late 1990's John Cooper Garages in association/under license from Rover did option kits for the Classic and called it the S Works. I think it pushed it to 90bhp or there abouts. But also the Works Rally minis of the 1960's where known as the S Works cars....thats were it began.

Hi Phil....welcome aboard! Thanks for sharing your Mini history. What a wonderful car! Although we've been largely Mini-denied for many years, we're trying to catch up, and (I'm glad to say) MINIs are very much a HOT item over here! Glad to have you on NAM!!!

The Chili Pack is basically the Dealer Prep and an additional 3 years warranty including service, not an option package !!!

I have had a MCS #87 in Florida and I have moved here to the UK. I am familiar with both of the delivery options and what they mean.

Pete, interior is all black. I wanted the red/black but the dealer said it wouldn't sit right...what do they know?

Silver dash though, which I prefer.

To all you guys posted responses above, many thanks for the welcome and I will get some pics up soon.

Anyone going to Indy this weekend for the F1 race?
If so have fun...I'll be watching on the TV

Hi CrazyPhil,

Your Mini sounds like a great one. There is just something about PW MINIs that seems right . . . I think the PW cars might be just a tad faster than the others. . . . Welcome aboard.

Ya'd think we could watch it on TV, too, but the broadcasters here.....as they have proven time and again....have no clue whatsoever!! F1 coverage here is dismal at best. Oh we get NASCAR shoved down out throats....but geez, the ABC affilliate here is even running infomercials all day!!! Makes me sick.....I mean, it's even the freakin' United States Grand Prix!!!!!

Wow, I haven't used this many s in a long time!

And the race may not even get underway as Michelin may pull all their tyre shod cars out due to a major malfunction of the side walls. They think it may be something to due with the pressure loading as the cars go thru' the 9digree banking. If they do ask the teams that use their tyres not to race it means only 3 teams will be in the race

Watch this space......

Yeah, I've been reading about it.....on the web! No problem for the Bridgestones, and the whole thing apparantly has been dumped right back in Michelin's lap!! Extremely fascinating stuff. Bernie seems convinced they'll start w/ a full grid......watch this space indeed!!!!! Or better...Phil, check in on the F1 thread and share your observations!!
