Which boat?

this is my first post on this site. (i've learned much following threads)

My new 05' MCS is now complete. 866-ask-mini says it is waiting to get on a boat to come to the US. I live in North Carolina. How will I know which boat to track?

Once ASK-MINI confirmed my car was in transit I contacted my dealer and they were able to give me the shipping line, vessel #, B/L etc. I'm now trying to track it but it appears my shipping line (NYK) doesn't offer tracking. The dealer was able to tell me my car is due to hit the West Coast July 1 though, so won't be too much longer.

Hello,

As an East Coast Motorer, your MINI will be shipped by Wallenius Wilhelmsen. You'll need your VIN to find your MINI's Booking Order and schedule.

Go here and use the "Auto Tracking" link on the right-hand side of the screen.
Input your VIN. If you don't have it, dealer will. Should appear in the MINIUSA Owner's Lounge, as well.

This should produce a booking number for you, and a few other items. You might want to jot 'em down, or save the search results page. Most of the data (booking number, etc) are actually hyperlinks, and clicking them will provide more info.

Feel free to PM with questions, or just search on "delivery tracking" or the shipping line name, Wallenius Wilhelmsen, here on NAM. Good Luck!

Cheers,
matthew Z

Check the WW line, your car will come in at Charleston, if you have the vin number you can punch it in the cargo I.D. block and it should tell you what is going on. Try this site www.2wglobal.com. If that doesn't work, go over to the OL and look at order tracking and it will give you what to look up, or do a search on this site. Thinks there is some info about what to look up. I used it when my Mini was on order.

How long does it typically take from "En Route" status to ON THE BOAT? I've followed the suggested links, input my VIN number and it is not showing as a valid number.

My car's status has been en route since June 4th or so. I'm wondering if it missed the boat?

It could have been bumped and is waiting for another ship, be sure you get the vin number right. I kept getting the invalid number when I entered mine and found out I left a number out. Once I put the correct number in the box I got all kinds of info.

I went over to the WW lines schedule a while ago and there's two ships leaving for Charleston, the MIGNON leaves Southampton June 17 and arrives in Charleston on July 1, the LIBERTY leaves Southampton on June 20 and arrives in Charleston July 2. Hope this helps, just keep calling askMini, sometimes though your car will actually be enroute and ask mini will say it's still waiting at the dock.

Port of Charleston

MINIMAXX, check out www.port-of-charleston.com, when the site pops up, click on the quick links box, when that opens, scroll down to the vessel schedule and click on that, the cars come in at the Union Pier Terminal (UP). It will give you a complete schedule of the ships coming in, once your ship arrives it will also tell what time they unload. The VDC is in Greer which is right over the line from Charlotte. This anticipation is getting tuff by now...know the feeling.

whoo hoo. I'm in the same boat (ship pun intended). I just have to wait a little longer for transport out to the midwest.

Update on the Flying Grape.... (considering a name change now though, but that is off topic).

According to my MA, my MiniS is ON the boat and is due to arrive in Oxnard, C.A. on June 28th. My pick up time is scheduled sometime during the week of July 14-20th at Rasmussen!

I guess I too will continue reading and busy myself with the pre-car arrival details (find good deal on race rubber for 16X16.5 wheels, buy a Schroth harness and a PURPLE M2000 rated helmet)

Thanks for your help!

Jules
