Greetings
Hi there, I've been a long-time MINI lover, and maybe soon to be owner.
I'm going to be graduating university in a few weeks and plan to lobby for the MINI has a partial graduation present. My parents don't seem to have anything other than a Civic or a Corolla in mind though
.
I've been fascinated with the MINI since its launch, and even lurked here a year or so back. Let me just say that this community ROCKS, I have not witnessed a more mature or friendly auto community anywhere else. If I manage to get a MINI, that is one thing I will be looking forward to the most.
Are build times still close to 6 months for a customized MINI? I hope to have a Chili Red MC with white top and chrome on my driveway ASAP!

Welcome aboard my friend and a HUGE Congrats on the upcoming Graduation!!
Can you spell R_E_L_I_E_F?
Wait times depend on the dealership and how quickly you want one. It will pay off to shop around - some dealers charge over MSRP and some do not. Get up on www.miniusa.com and find where the dealers are located.
There are also several dealers that are Sponsors here on NAM - they have their own sticky threads in those forums - give them a look.....they may have one on their lot just waiting for you...
Donna
02' CR/W MCS (gone to MINI heaven - burned up)
05' Cool Blue MCSC "Ariel"

What are the chances of getting one that's aleady on the lot that speced to what I want?
Basically:
MC - Chili Red/White
Leatherette
Nav
Chrome Ext/Int
If one dealer doesn't have the car, would they search around other dealers nearby to get one? There are three dealerships in Toronto and surrounding areas I think.
Which options are considered to be dealer installed (as in, if they're not there already, they can be added within a few days)? For stuff like DSC, I guess not, but what about the Nav, H&K sound, or the chrome bits?

I know people who have gotten Coopers ordered, built, and received in 6 weeks..........or less!!! Check w/ your dealer on their particular status on orders/deliveries.
MINIs are very safe, practical, and reliable cars. The resale value on them is super and, by the way...........they're insane fun!!!! (...although with parents its perhaps best to appeal to the more practical features.)
People overlook MINI's frequently because they appear to be styled a bit more quirkily than people are accustomed to, but they're very affordable daily drivers, economical to run (especially Coopers) and have a lot of fantastic engineering in them for the $$$s.*
Congrats on the imminent graduation...that's quite an accomplishment!
*inside tip (top secret)...if you can live w/o tons of options, a lightweight Cooper w/ light wheels is an absolute blast to drive....and even MORE reasonably priced!

Look at dealers around your area you may find what your looking for or close and not have to wait. The wait will kill you
, just think you could be motoring tonight.

If I manage to find a MINI locally that is CLOSE what I had in mind in terms of options, which ones can the dealer change? Can they put in a NAV unit for example, or would that likely cause more rattles in the car?
