Rain-Sensing WW question.

OK, so they work ok. But if I leave the wiper stalk in the intermitant/rain sensing position and shut the car off, the next time I get in the wipers do nothing. I have to turn them off and back on to get them to start swiping again.

Is this normal? The manual says to leave in intermitant postion and whenever neede the wipers will wipe. However, they don't.
Thanks,
Steve

Yes, it's normal.

From NAMmer mbabischkin:
It's a "safety feature," MINI is afraid that you'll never turn the wipers off, forget about them and drive into a car wash. Your wipers would engage in the wash and get trashed as the car went through... So to prevent that, the rain sensor must be reset for lack of a better term when you restart the car...

That's direct from ASK-MINI when I called them about this two years ago...

Yeah, it gets annoying, but I guess it is better that they didn't get wrecked in a car wash, because I know I would leave them on and completely forget about it

Thanks for the replys. Heh, car wash, what's that. I wash by hand at home or do it yourself quarter pumping.
