I have used this site over the years for tips, fixes, and repairs. Thanks for the info. I have a 2010 Cooper S Hardtop Hatch. It had the timing chain issue and replacement around 50,000 miles. I started changing the oil on a more frequent basis, about every 4000, different than what the computer recommended and dealership did, ended up at about once a year nearing every 12 thousand or so usually in the beginning as I was learning more about these and this issue that changing the oil more frequently and the updated tensioner and parts also were supposed to help. I love this car, awesome gas mileage and power. I live up a windy canyon and the sport suspension I ordered it with makes it probably one if not the best handling car I have driven. I replaced the tensioner and some of the recent noise coming back is better, but at 150 thousand now I is likely in need of a chain again. I am sure the original clutch probably will need attention as well though still seems fine.
I was planning on possibly doing this maintenance myself, but I have a few too many vehicles and lack of space. I have already done a few cosmetic repairs on grill chrome, cowl replacement, and head light lenses. It is starting to show the signs of needing the chrome around the headlights replaced, but very minor at this time and only on one side. The driver's seat has a little wear in the typical spots, but the rest is in good shape. I have a spare set of rims and in the winter with Blizzaks it has no issues in the winter.
I had lined up a guy who races minis to help me part time on this maintenance as I am in no hurry and maybe sell it in a little different state, but that fell through. I did replace plugs and did a compression test recently that was good since I had a mire occasional misfire, but the plugs took care of that. I thought about making this a track day car, but I have other hobbies and do not really need to get addicted to another ... and since I just purchased a different vehicle I am going to part with her... I am not sure I want to start on Facebook marketplace as I probably will get a bit of noise ... but I can be clear and pretty quick to do on messenger anyway ... but maybe will stumble on the right person and we can come to a reasonable price.
That paint looks VERY good for a 16 year old MINI! And yes, those headlights tend to de-laminate over time and the chrome gets bubbles and chips, etc. Here's a link to replacements if you need some.
