Hi, all! Now that I've joined--and have just taken delivery of my 2025 Mini Cooper S (chilli red/vescin beige) I thought I'd introduce myself.
I've actually been part of the Mini family for a while; I bought a Canadian spec 1972 Austin Mini 1000 in 1998 (and had it redone in 2003). About a month ago, I was one of the 1,000 people laid off from GM--in my case, ending a 38-year career with an email (and you can read about my story here: GM layoff email triggers much criticism by recruiting expert on TikTok). I had seen the original new Mini concept in Frankfurt in 1997 and had always told people if I didn't work for GM I'd be driving a new Mini--and, well, corporate loyalty being a two-way street, I replaced my GM company vehicle with a new Mini as my daily driver.
I also have a 2024 Camaro RS convertible (yes, I'm keeping it, because it's still fun and paid for) and a 1963 Buick Riviera (another automotive design icon). My husband comes from a Ford family but prefers larger vehicles--he's got a 1963 Lincoln Continental, a 1962 Ford Galaxie, and a 1979 Town Car (which is literally almost twice as long as my '72).
Glad to be a part of this group and look forward to future interactions...
Adam
