Clubman headunit upgrade using countryman headunit?

Hi All,

I have a new to me 2017 Clubman that came with the basic 6.5 NBT head unit. It is ok but I would like a bit more from it. I was searching in my surroundings and found for sale a (what seems to be ) fair priced unit from a mini Countryman, LCI, the one with touchscreen and touch buttons, carplay, etc. I am aware that the shroud/ housing is different between Countryman vs Clubman but I was thinking of Frankensteining it by swapping the screen, head unit ("computer" side) and controller from the countryman to the clubman housing.

Was this done before? Is there any coding required?
Being a breaker part that was previously used in another car, is the vin matched with the car or something like this? On the LCI countryman unit display i saw a car logo, can this be changed with a clubman one?

Thank you for any input on this.
