I've gotten so much info from this board over the past year. Just wanted to thank you all for the great info and community. I'm a member of several other boards and groups but for some reason never joined. I have a '02 track prepped mini that I've rebuilt completely over the last year and sadly she's got a blown head gasket from a faulty hose clamp. May sell it if I can get enough to justify or store it and rebuild it when I have the time. Either way, its been a blast to drive on the track and has surprised a lot of higher hp cars when they see it in the rearview. If its sold I'll be looking for something new and Mini's new lineup is spacious enough for me finally so hopefully I'll be posting more in the future.
Sorry to hear about your head gasket, but if you've done most of the rebuild, why not do the head gasket? It's not that tough - I did mine... took a few part time days for me - maybe 6 hours of actual work taking things apart and then back together. I punctuated my gasket replacement by lapping the valves back in - they were a bit pitted and new seals. Totally doable though - and ModMini has a great video on the entire process here...
