Advise needed: my 2022 has arrived at the Port!

While I have been a MINI driver since 2009 (my daily driver is a 2008 Cooper S convertible), I’m hoping someone can solve some MINI extended warranty mysteries before I’m called to pick up my new 2022 convertible. I’ve read about everything I can get my hands on the www, but MINi has decided to remain silent on way too much. I’m planning on keeping my car long term, so can you please help me with your expertise?
First question, the MINI Extended Motorer Protection: In the fine print, I read the following, “Coverage under this program is limited to defects in material or workmanship only. Wear and tear is the responsibility of the vehicle owner.” What does this mean exactly? They say that they replace oil pans and bushings, but these obviously only need to be replaced because they have worn out. Not because they were originally defective!
Second question, they offer a plethora of extended maintenance policies: MINI Maintenance oil services, MINI Maintenance+, Scheduled Maintenance. Huh? And you have to purchase the base MINI Maintenance+ to be eligible to add a year or so to the maintenance. Ugh!
Third question, and maybe this is the most important question of all. What advise do you have regarding MINI’s extended warranty plans vs third-party vehicle service contracts? Is MINI’s extended warranty actually through MINI or is it actually also through a third-party? I would love to save money, but in attempting to save money, I’m actually losing money, then what’s the point?
As everyone who is on this forum knows, it is expensive to drive a MINI! I had honestly put my name on a Prius that was arriving at the local dealer, but as the delivery date grew closer, I found myself not looking forward to getting a new car. What? Then, someone who loves me said, “Life is too short to drive a Prius!” And, yes, the Prius would have been merely transportation. A Prius could never bring me joy. And, there isn’t a convertible version of the Prius anyway!
I look forward to your help and advise!

What did you end up doing/learning?
Would be interested in info on Mini ESC vs 3rd party, what’s not covered making one plan/company better than another, transferability on sale/trade of vehicle, cancellation/refund during contract, competitive pricing info
Amazing how little this is subject is discussed on this forum and elsewhere.
Appreciate any help/advice

Advise on MINI warranties

Before picking up my MINI, I did a ton of research and spent waayy too much time and effort before caving in while in MINI’s F & I office!
I had contacted Endurance, the third-party vehicle service agreement company recommended by most sources, and they were high pressure/high price jerks. I also contacted YAA, Your Advocate Alliance, who offer very reasonably priced VSAs. They gave me a good price and I should probably have gone with them, but you know how MINI can be. I got nervous. Afraid that the dealership might give me a hard time when having work done, etc., so I went with the MINI extended warranty.
Although able to pay cash for the purchase of my MINI, I ended up having to take out a small loan as I ended up buying practically everything offered. I purchased Wheel and Tire protection because MINI wheels and run-flats are soooo expensive and the interstate I65 is in such dreadful shape, I figure that on one of my frequent trips back and forth to Nashville, I will probably hit a pot hole!
As to your question, the extended warranty policy is transferable and refundable. The extended maintenance policy is not, but with the cost of everything sky-rocketing, I went ahead and purchased the extended maintenance policy too as a hedge against drastically higher maintenance costs. I purchased the 10-year policies on both the extended warranty and extended maintenance and the tire and wheel and it cost me a fortune! Basically, I was purchasing some peace of mind which I’m now making payments on!!! Ugh!
On a personal note, my husband bought a 2022 Prius, snagging probably one of the last one’s available in our area of the country. While I love dropping the top in my MINI, the standard, no cost, safety features in the Prius make driving the Prius so much safer! Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (it slows down for you), Lane Departure alert (it steers for you), Parking Assist, Blind spot monitor with rear cross traffic alert with sensors located all around the car - all standard! Basically the Prius is an autonomous vehicle while my MINI doesn’t even have Apple CarPlay because I didn’t purchase the extra $4 thousand dollar package. MINI bundled their options so that I couldn’t just purchase Apple CarPlay.
I hope my ramblings are of some assistance to you. As to specific warranty info, I’m not sure how to attach the large PDFs, but I will give you links to the various MINI pages I found that detail everything they offer.

thanks so much for the reply. I am a firm believer in extended warranties and even wheel and tire coverage because I live in a pothole infested state and have used both the extended and tire/wheel coverages in the past to their fullest - saving me money in the long run.
I have the same concern on 3rd party and will likely spend more to know I can take it to the dealer w/o issue

Btw — do you have the PDF on your extended warranty? I’d love to see that! The one you attached is the factory warranty. Thanks!!

Hey!
The top link for the 7-page pdf is the extended warranty coverage guide. This PDF details the three levels of coverage offered: Platinum, Gold and Powertrain. (My dealer only offers the Platinum level.) Then MINI also offers 6 choices as to the length of protection and mileage:
5 years/75,000 miles
5 years/100,000 miles
6 years/75,000 miles
6 years/100,000 miles
7 years/75,000 miles
7 years/100,000 miles
Of course these numbers include the 3-year factory warranty making these extended warranties only covering an extra 2, 3, or 4-years. (So misleading!)
Pages 3-7 of the PDF then show the differences between what is covered in this extended warranty, depending on which level you purchase. (As I said, my dealer only offers the Platinum.) These 5-pages detail what components are eligible for repair and this list is quite extensive.
I hope this helps!
