Can you imagine going from a full sized F150 Raptor to a Mini? That's kinda what I did this week. Last month I sold my Raptor. I loved the truck but the resale prices are so high that I gave into the temptation and make a pretty good amount of cash in the process. I had intended to go with just one car for a while so I could save money but my wife INSISTED we have two vehicles. So I started shopping for a cheap grocery getter. I looked at everything from a Jeep Renegade to a Kia Soul, to a VW GTI, and even a few used BMWs. But upon my first drive of a used Countryman, I knew I was on to something. I considered a new Oxford edition but the lack of CarPlay was a NoGo for me. But this 2018 Cooper S, with the Iconic pkg, really fit the bill. It has 30000 miles and just came off lease. It came with a CPO warranty and thus far I've been impressed. I didn't even know these things had wireless CarPlay. Also, I'm 6'2" and quite easily fit into it with more than enough space behind me for my wife or son. Very impressive.
Anyways, I'm planning to mod it. We live in Colorado and have some rocky roads that I drive over to get to my mountain property. So it's going to get a lift and perhaps some slightly larger Falken Wildpeak ATs. Also, some additional aux lighting (probably KC Hilights) and a few other bits here and there. My cars rarely stay stock for long.
Anyways, I'm here, I need beer, and things will get weird. Cya around..
In the last three months i've gone from a 2018 TRD Off Road Tacoma to a 2020 Nissan Frontier Pro to a 2018 Cooper S 2 door. I bought the Tacoma new and it was paid for. I was able to use it for 27 months for next to nothing before trading it in on a new Frontier that had heavy incentives, drove the Frontier for two months before trading in in on a CPO MINI and walking away with a bundle of cash. It normal economic times none of this would have been possible without taking huge losses with each trade.
I'm circling my wagons I don't think this economic cycle is going to end well.
I have a 2011 Range Rover Sport Supercharged 510hp Autobiography 1 of 250 (with a pulley and tune i can be at 600hp and it has a cooler/fridge in the console, heated windshield, full air suspension) and 2 MINIs R58 MINI Coupe JCW & R52 MINI Convertible JCW. In the past had a BMW e34 525i m5 upgrades, E30 BMW vert (super clean with red seats). .
Nothing is like the MINI, gets more looks and people talking about it.
Congrats on the F60. I have seen people from all walks of life own one.
Get rid of the factory runflats and some lighter wheels make a huge difference.
I understand the trade from a Raptor to a MINI. If you don’t need the truck for the bed you will have no regrets. In fact, find a nice winding back road with no other traffic and your only regret will be not doing it sooner but life is too short for that.
With current ongoing lack of new vehicle inventory, used car inventory has been severely depleted with associated high asking prices seemingly obtained. One of my vehicles is what I call my "More Practical Raptor", i.e., factory ordered 2014 F150 S-Cab FX4 with the rare 6.2L engine plus MaxTow pkg and the usual options. At this point, < 16k unblemished miles since new nearly 7 yrs ago. Great time to sell (perhaps on BaT) but I really enjoy driving it even if just occasionally. With Fed spending rampant and the rate of inflation rapidly rising, seems value of desirable goods like these vehicles is a better investment than cash.
I continue my own search for a pristine low mileage MINI (R53 S/JCW preferably), however it's looking like finding one that suits me will be on the back burner for the foreseeable future.
