Hi new to this form and already posted the thread to introduce myself (MarkP). I have a 2007 Mini Cooper Hatchback. The climate control **** (manual dial)
is a little 'gummy'. Probably just from age. Looking to find a part number so I can search/order one. Also can simply pull off the **** and replace it vs replacing the entire panel. Thank you for the help.
Mark,
Funny that I did a search for this EXACT issue before posting my own thread.
I see that yours didn't get much of a response.
Thought I would reply to your note letting you know you are NOT the only one! Hoping that perhaps you DID wind up with a resolution?
My button in our 2010 R56 has exactly the same problem and I would rather NOT have to consider an entirely new assembly.
Have to replace the assembly and not just the ****
Took me a while and working with several Mini parts dealers (that sure wasn't fun) but found what needs to be replaced. Sadly it isn't just the control ****, it is the entire assemble. Here is the part number and what the dealer quoted me (just for the part) and an image.
64-11-3-454-854 and $578.02
With that kind of price I will live with it. Maybe you will have better luck.

Thanks so much for including that MINI part number….and of courrrrrrrrrse it’s the whole assembly! :(
You know, looking at the dial, I wonder if it’s a potential candidate for using 3D printing to create an “overlay” which would essentially give us a new dial without having to disrupt the existing mechanism?
The other option might be to look for this assembly at junk yards.
I was able to locate the second Boost CD assembly for my R56 for quite cheap and used a few of it's parts as replacements.
But first I would just look if you can remove the climate control panel and simply clean the ****.
