Hello from Washington
Long time reader, first time poster. I've got a 2014 F56 MCS in Deep Blue, first owner. Seattle at the moment - little did I know a mecca for Minis before I arrived.
The craziest trip I took was from Seattle to Atlanta, Idaho. The road from Boise to Atlanta was not so bad. Washboarded and dusty AF - my biggest concern was the additional rattles I would add as all the screws, bolts and fasteners loosened a little bit. We were both fine. I was impressed with the campsites out there, actually, they were all pretty well maintained for being 40 miles out. I guess as far as Idaho goes, maybe that's not all that remote. As for the Idahovians, I didn't get much in the way of condescension, but I did let them pass on the dirt roads. No, the crazy part was the route I took coming back. I took NF-23 from Trout Lake to Randle. I had taken the mostly parallel road past St. Helens previously, and while the pavement was buckled, it was manageable on a VFR. This, not so much. I'm not sure why they insist on paving the first mile or so, sort of like "here is a nice country drive. JK this road is a bag of ducks."
Modifications I've made:
* I've got the non-Harman Kardon system, so I replaced the front speakers with some Focal coaxial speakers.
* About 20 lbs of dampening material in the doors.
* I replaced the 17" wheels with 16". (I still have the take-offs in my garage taking up space, so if you'd like to make a deal, let me know)
* I added a phone holder thing that attached to the back of the speedo cluster. Not the expensive one, and not the Click-N-Drive, but it suffices.
Getting a bit dirty.
