Hello everyone. My name is Rich. I've actually had my R53 for a year now, but have only used how to videos from youtube to fix things. My wife found the car on facebook marketplace for $2400. I thought it was too good to be true, and it kinda was. The car had no A/C but ran fine and had a rattle which turned out to be the PTO gears on the supercharger, which finally destroyed themselves about 2 months after I bought it. I found the ambient temp sensor was missing from the front bumper, so I installed one, that didn't fix it, then I used a bmw scan tool and found that the evap temp sensor wasn't reading right, and the compressor clutch wasn't engaging so I replaced it, and then replaced the A/C Compressor and dryer, Got it recharged and its very cool now. I ended up replacing the Supercharger with a refurbished one, added a 17% Alta pulley, and 2% overdrive pulley on the crank. All the hoses were brittle and falling apart as I took them apart so I replaced with New Samco style hoses. The rubber intake tube broke at the clamp, So I installed an AFE CAI and cleaned out the throttle body. Once all this was done, I put the car back together and it drives like a dream. No problems since. I just got done replacing the brake pads front and rear and painting the calipers blue to match the car. Next I'll be taking the R90 wheels apart and polishing the lips and painting the centers either white or leaving them the stock gray, haven't decided. This poor car seems to have had a rough life prior to me owning it, but it only had 124,000 miles when I bought it and now has 130,000. I have a few more mods to do when they finally come in, and hopefully I'll be able to post them as they get completed.
