New owner! 2010 MCS Convertible

Hi everyone!
First time owner, long-time fan.
I recently bought a 2010 MCS Convertible (R57) with about 46k miles.

This is my first time being a "car guy" in a while. I used to own a 2007 Honda Civic that I really didn't use much, or care for (sad to say). Due to a bunch of big life changes, I sold the car and got into motorcycles for a bit. I owned the following bikes:
  • 2007 Ducati Monster 695 in black - My first bike, barely knew what I was doing
  • 2007 Ducati S2R 1000 in red - God, was this bike pretty. But I was too new to know that this bike was too much power for me. I took care of her as much as I could, doing repairs and changing the tires, learning the ropes. Sold her for a profit after I realized she was gonna kill me
  • 2013 Ducati Monster 696 in black - Back in the saddle with a medium-sized street bike.
Then one of my buddies got into a real bad accident. Paralyzed bad.
I've heard of people dying in bike accidents, but none of those really affected me. But since I've been watching the consequences of his accident unfold over the past year, I elected to get out of motorcycling. I sold my last bike and started searching for a car.

I was looking for something with the "feel" of a bike, with the safety of a car. Naturally, this would require a convertible with superb handling.
I narrowed down the search to either an old Porsche (2000s) with 100k+ miles, or a newer MCS.

Then I found this great deal on a 2010 MCS convertible. A steal, really. $6500 for 46k miles. Some cosmetic damage, but I didn't really care.
I now own my first (and hopefully not last) Mini, and I've been LOVING it.

Since then, I've been doing tons of reading and thinking about what I can do with it.
Unfortunately, the last owner didn't much care for the car, and she's overdue on a lot of maintenance.
That's what brought me to NAM!

So here I am, looking forward to chatting with everyone.
I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy amongst the COVID-19 pandemic!

Welcome,

R52 owner here. Nice collection.

Thats a good deal for low miles. Top down motoring is the best and the MINIs do feel like a go kart.

Good find! You're a biker so you're probably familiar with the motorcycle roads website. Those are the same kinds of roads MINIs love to travel. To make those roads more fun, THE best mod for the buck is a stiffer RSB and KONI Special Active struts. ECS is a good source.
Also, from just one perspective, this is the service schedule I follow. Others may vary but it's served mine well.
Oil and filter every 5K
Brake Fluid every 20K
Coolant every 30K
PVC vent valve every 30K
PS Fluid flush every 30K
Plugs every 40K
Serpentine belt every 40K
Fuel Filter Change every 50K

Congrats and Welcome

It's nice you found a good low mileage car, too bad they weren't better about maint, but we find that pretty common on 2nd hand cars.
