Good afternoon,
I just picked up my first mini yesterday actually. Its a 2006 Mini Cooper S. It has 171k miles on it. It runs and drives but does need some work. The card was hit in a parking lot and has some body damage Driver door/rearquarter. I'm not to worried about the body damage more so the reliability of the car but its a project car so I have plenty of time to fix all of the issues. I have always wanted a mini but never pulled the trigger to get one. I believe it was a love at first sight type of deal. I will take a few pictures and get it uploaded so we can see what I am working with. Initial goal is to make the car completely reliable then go into modifications once that has been completed.
Congrats; 2006 is a great year for MINIs, probably the best of the first gen cars. You'll find tons of helpful info and people in the First Gen subforums.
Where in FL are you located? There are a few very active & fun owner's groups around the state. I found the people the be just as much fun, and add to the ownership experience, as the car itself.
Good score, love the color - Space Blue? Let me guess on the dent - someone backed into the car with their lifted pickup because they couldn't see the roofline under their 30-foot high tailgate?
Yeah someone hit it in a parking lot :( . Just ordered new ball joints, Powerflex control arm bushings, Valeo conversion kit, and pretty much all the seals for the entire engine. Looking forward to getting the car up in the air so i can start tearing it down a making it reliable.
Nice. Hope you have better luck than I with the ball joints. Mine are stuck in the steering knuckle and the hammer method doesnt seem to work. Would suggest Mod Mini's youtube videos for a good walkthrough of most repairs. From the Space Coast here!
