Hello folks!
New guy here, just bought my first Mini a few weeks ago. 2012 Cooper. Nope, not an "S", just a basic Cooper, however the previous owner did do a small amount of mods, including an exhaust (not sure what kind honestly) and some 17" wheels. It sounds great, a little louder than stock, and the tip looks pretty nice. Here's my car taking it's maiden drive on NW Skyline in Portland, OR where I live. I know nothing about these, having never owned a Mini, but I've always liked them and have driven several as rentals. Looking forward to learning more about this car and the community!
Welcome. Fun road to drive except for speed bumps near Skyline Diner and of course lots of bike riders on warm sunny days.
Yeah, definitely not as fun as it was maybe 10-15 years ago, quite crowded, and thumbs down on the speed bumps. Going from a Jeep (which I still have) to the Mini, speed bumps are now a concern, haha. I am looking forward to a trip to the coast via Hwy 53 to Tillamook. One of my favorite roads! Thanks for the welcome!
Hi and welcome to NAM!
Congrats on your Mini buy!
Stick or automatic?
Nothing wrong with a good Justa! Still sporty and fun to drive! I have owned three Justa's and have two now. My 06 R53 JCW is real fun, but I had an 06 Justa, ran great and got 44 mpg's! Gotta love that and they handle real well too!

unfortunately it’s an auto, however, I am kinda coming around to manual mode and the sport setting. The trans kinda shifts like some sort of hybrid manual/auto, especially the way it downshifts in auto mode when coming to a stop. Guess that’s just how they are? I have little experience with autos or cars less than 20 years old. But yep I’m enjoying it and the gas savings are great!
