Hello. I have a 2008 Mini Cooper R56 engine N14 base model according to the VIN with a bad cylinder head. The car has a manual 6-speed transmission and it is in otherwise great condition. I've been trying to get the cylinder head worked on but the shop has taken forever and I don't see an end to this anytime soon. I have a chance to buy a 2006 Mini Cooper S model which is an R53 engine with a good engine but bad tranny, can I use the tranny from my 08 base model on the 06 S model? If not which model can I get to replace a bad tranny instead? The work is equal as far as my mechanic is concerned.
