Never look a gift mini...

Howdy from northern michigan. My in laws passed on to us their 2010 r56 base model in the wired greeny yellowish color this past year and it has been the car that has kept giving...problems. I really want to love it and when it has worked it has been a blast to drive when it works. When we first got it it started leaking oil, then a rear caliper was hung up then a lower radiator hose came off of one of those cheap plastic holder doo hickeys and then it sat for a month when the snow was too deep for it to get in and out of our driveway. Then came the crank no start. Well a fuel filter and pump later I now have all of the soaked carpet from the I'm guessing sunroof drain pulled out and will be shopping for a new body wiring harness and probably body control module along with anything else that has gotten damp.

If I sound like I'm not fond of the car I really am in spite of all of these problems. And now without the carpet I look at the bare sheet metal and think it's time for a race car make over. So I will have lots of questions and will need lots of help in the upcoming months. Thanks for listening.

MINIs are a lot of fun. For most of us the fun is in the driving. Many on the forum enjoy the never-ending maintenance and repairs they seem to need.

Some good news is that there is plenty of parts available for repairs and upgrades that would not be available for many other brands. Most of the performance parts seem to be for the S and not the base models, so getting it set-up for racing may not be as easy.

My cars most natural pose


Just put the jbe box in. Still no communication. Old jbe had corroded pins on the bottom two black connectors. Next is probably rhroqing a body harness at it and if that doesnt work an ecu or aftermarket ecu. Anyone have any experience swapping in a haltech or ms ecu? Or should i just roll it down a steep crevasse?
