I can understand how you feel but honestly I do not think it is a like ruin a Classic. Why not London/UK has all kind restrictions to go into the inner City and taxes the crap out of drivers. A Classic on the Road is a Classic saved from the Crusher.

Unless you've driven in London you don't realize the difficulty or the cost -- crazy traffic, incredibly expensive parking (well over $500/mo.) and a tax just to enter London, plus $8/gal. gasoline. This is all in addition to registration fees, MOT and other taxes. I agree with #Evlkarl that a restored* MINI, even with electric power, is a positive rather than sending it to a junkyard to rust away. It at least looks stock (but performs much better). The $100,000 sticker is quite the shocker though.
