New from San Diego

i just picked up this 06 mcs with JCW tune and other bits. Per a vin decoder it is not an “official” jcw. From what I can tell it has the tune, brakes, exhaust and some interior bits that are JCW.

What a fun car!! It needs a few thing but a lot of maintenance items have been done by the PO before I got it.

I will be doing LCA bushing, Rear sway bar, tires (maybe rims) and suspenion.

What I need help with is suspenion and tires. It can be overwhelming on what suspenion and tires to get.

This is a daily driver, no track days, just drive it like a mini!! I have 17” rims with stock suspenion

I am looking to close the wheel well gap a little with out a sacrifice of ride comfort. I am also looking to possible add a small spacer to get the wheel closer to the outside of the fender a little bit more.

So my questions are what spring/strut combo and what tire with size?

Thanks!!!

Ill get picture soon!!

I've made this recommendation before, and I'll make it for you, too: Call Way Motor Works about your suspension. Way gave me great advice on my car (also an R53 daily driver in San Diego): H-Sport front and rear bars, JCW dampers, TSW springs (I think they're WMW springs, now) and a couple other things. I love how it all came together into a stiffer car that also manages to ride better than stock. That was 8 years ago so there could be newer options, or just options that fit your needs better.

Right on! Thanks for the advice! I have an email into WMW I am sure they will give me the same advice.

What tires are you running?

I have the FSDs, i really like them. Had bilsteins on my land rover, yes apples and oranges, but they were great. Cant go wrong either way IMO.

Welcome.

You will find that the GEN1s are for the most part Dealership JCW MODs. There are a number of Indicators, and things to check to validate the JCW Performance kits you have. A great way is to look at the Retor-MODs, for example listed here:
JCW 210HP Kit:
https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=03_0021

JCW 200HP Kit:
https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=03_0023

JCW Suspension:
https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=03_0037

JCW Brakes:
https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=03_0040

Just to list a few, but you can look at the parts included in the kits and compare to what is on your car to determine what you have.

You will learn things like the JCW fuel injectors are color coded BLUE, and our wonderful affiliates like ECS have built their own version of these retrofit performance kits. <hat tip to ECS>

Plus there a plenty of aftermarket upgrades and MODs available, I'm counting on the GEN1 community to keep the demand high enough to keep these parts available so we can keep the cars on the road for years and years to come.

Motor On!

If it s a 06 it most likely has the factory. Look for the 3ALA option on the decoded vin.
Go here: http://bimmer.work/
use the last 7mof your vin.
If it has the code, it is factory.
Welcome to the family!
Pics are nice to see!
